Offbeat Bride: Sheva, Hairstylist
Her Offbeat Partner: Jared, Cad specialist
Location & date of wedding: Castle on the Hudson, Tarrytown, NY — October 31st, 2008
What made our wedding offbeat: Jared and I hate the traditional, and dread going to weddings. We decided to throw a huge bash on our favorite holiday, Halloween.
To ensure that our guests would losen up and have fun we had everyone dress up in costume. Jared wore jeans and we all decided to wear chucks and be comfortable. We got to be ourselves and had a stress free fun day.
Biggest challenge: We are from Staten Island and we searched high and low for vendors to see our vision. We wanted a dark elegant event with a twist of tacky halloween fun. All we got was attitude as soon as I walked in and they saw my tattoos and I started talking about skulls and a lot of black.
It was not until we headed out to sleepy hollow did we find this stunning castle that loved Halloween weddings.
My favorite moment: Having the double doors open and seeing our friends and family in their costumes.
My advice for other offbeat brides: Don't fight with your fiance! Have fun with planning your wedding.
And don't settle, you CAN have the craziest, trashiest, most outrageous wedding you want, it's not illegal.

OMG- Awesome!!!!
That dress is gorgeous! And the corset-lace-up chair covers to match? Fantastic!
This is amazing…wish there was more info on vendors. But still gorgeous.
Holy smokes I love her dress. AWESOME.
This is my first comment here (besides, I believe, congratulating Ariel on her pregnancy), but I gotta say if I had my druthers, this is almost exactly the wedding I'd want. Congrats on the wedding, and I love your elegant goth style! Love that dress! Love the cake! LOVE!
If you're going non-white – this is how you do it!
LUV LUV LUV IT!!!! The pics look amazing!!!! I loved how elegant it was. Congrats!
I'm guessing that's Fairy Goth Mother corset? 😀
i have a feeling that it is!
fairygothmother.com is where i plan to get my dress, too! (but a different one)
yep, i got the dress at fairygothmother.com it was suprisingly affordable
Where did you get that dress? It is amazing!
Amazingly dramatic and elegant wedding! More photos please!
Wow, you're pretty! And I've entertained the idea of wearing chucks to my wedding as well.
Also, it saddens me to know you received such attitude from vendors about your vision. Why are people SO stuck inside their vision of a poofy white wedding with doves, diamonds and french manicures? Ergh. How sterile. Give me something dark and romantic any day.
Congrats & here's to a long happy marriage 🙂
Frank Farina was our photographer and we used Daniel florals for everything else. they are both located in westchester, NY. We interviewed a lot of people, and we loved their work the best.
I think I might have a new girl-crush in Sheva – spectacular!
What amazing photos!!
Just discovered your site today and really really like it. I'm haunting your archives now 🙂
Is the groom wearing that fab skull-damask jacket from Pyramid Collection? Wow – I've never seen that on a person before.

I almost peed out of delight from the chair covers. I have always thought they looked so ridiculous…until now.
The bride is just gorgeous. Red dress + chucks = OMGBLISS!
Oh my god what an absolutely gorgeous couple (and your dress is to DIE/DYE for!!) Your wedding looked like one HELLUVAN awesome party!!! Rock on, darlings!
That dress is absolutely gorgeous. I love it (and the shoes!)
I wish I had thought of that when I got engaged. How awesome! Thats a wedding no one will forget!
I'm getting married this Halloween! Where did you rent those corset chair covers???? Absolutely Beautiful!
Daniel Florals in westchester. He was amazing he listened to my insane ramblings and turned the room into a dream.
