The Offbeat Bride: Shyla, Home Maker
Her Offbeat Partner: Richard, Marine
Location & date of wedding: The Grove in Las Vegas, NV — Aug 29th, 2009
What made our wedding offbeat: We saved a fortune becasue it was a package Las Vegas wedding — we had a vow renewal ceremony as the big shin dig instead of the court-house wedding we had six months ago.
I got to wear my chucks and kick-ass stockings. We played the music we wanted at the reception. DId I mention we did a crap ton of it ourselves? The programs were amazing… okay so maybe i'm biased because we made a billion of them! Lol.
Our biggest challenge: The biggest challenge was organizing such a large wedding party of twelve people. And being the only two who lived in California, it was me against the wedding monster. I just took it one day at a time and got things done a little bit each week.
OOOH, did I mention the crazines that was Vegas? Half the party got into a wreck on the way to the wedding! Our ceremony ended up starting later than we planned, but we were just grateful everone was okay.
My favorite moment: Wow… I really loved everyones reaction when I lifted the dress and revealed the chucks with my stockings. It was so me, and helped tie that into our ceremony. With my hubby wearing dress blues I had to compromise to match with the colors and mood etc., this was really just me shining through.
My advice for other offbeat brides: Get together with your husband, decide what your reallly think represents the two of you as a couple, and stick with it. Because at the end of the day it's all about the two of you becoming one. Cheesy, I know.
Also make sure you invite who you really want to be there because you will remember it forever every time you look at pictures.
Enough talk — show me the wedding porn:
I can't see the wedding porn, but I love the sox and shoes!

The chucks and stockings were fabulous, and the 5th pic in your photostream, the one where you are in front of him and the two of you are sitting on/near a planter?
THAT ONE IS STUNNING!
You are lucky to have such a wonderful, timeless pic!
