This vow renewal inspiration with real couple Holly and Topher (who met at San Francisco Pride in 2014!) was inspired by a modern carnival and Holly's bright pink hair. They wore their pink wedding attire from their wedding day and custom coordinated the tablescape, florals, stationary, and cake to match it all and look AMAZING. The pink dress and matching ombre jacket are going to slay you.
The bulk of the decor elements were second-hand to reduce environmental impact, and the stationery suite used colors from Pride flags chosen by Holly and Topher. Just wait until you see the spectacular three-tiered cake by Butter & Scotch who regularly create cakes in support of LGBTQ+ and gender rights, body positivity, and more.
Kate, the photographer, told us:
For Pride month, I put together this fun styled shoot with a team of queer vendors and strong allies who truly represent the Brooklyn LGBTQ+ community. We wanted to celebrate our individuality, our creativity, and our authentic selves as queer business owners in the wedding industry. Each vendor was encouraged to create their designs however they felt inspired by our modern carnival mood board and Holly's bright pink hair. We wanted the couple to be comfortable, so we had them wear their pink wedding dress and suit from their real wedding day and custom coordinated the tablescape, florals, stationary, and cake to their attire.
Emily Monus, of Emily Monus Events, sourced the bulk of the decor elements second-hand, as reducing environmental impact is one of her core business values. Miriam Bloom, of Miriam Bloom Designs, jumped on board as she hopes to become the go-to queer Brooklyn florist. Natalie Shaw and Molly Cichy, of Ephemora, created stationary pieces using colors from Pride flags chosen by the couple (pink representing sexuality and turquoise for art). The amazing team at Butter & Scotch mixed a unique sprinkle blend for the spectacular three-tiered cake. Butter & Scotch regularly features their cakes on Instagram decorated with messages in support of LGBTQ+ and gender rights, body positivity, and more. In addition to baking custom cakes, they are hoping to rent out the venue for micro weddings in the future.
The models are a real couple who met at San Francisco Pride in 2014. What began as a one night stand, turned to a loving long distance relationship before Holly moved to NYC where she and Topher threw a huge dance party and got married.
We connected with Holly and Topher through Butter & Scotch. They were excited to get involved in this shoot because of their friendship with the owner, as friendships play a hugely significant role in their lives. They are thankful to have a strong, supportive circle of friends as their chosen queer family and to have these images capturing their love.
