Offbeat Couple: David Armendariz & Jesse Gudino
Date and location of wedding: A secluded Spanish mountain top, Pico del Águila – 07/28/2020
Our gay wedding in Spain at a glance:
It was just Jesse and me. We had a flamenco gypsy group meet us on top of the mountain to celebrate and we planted a tree for our deceased dog, Darla.
Tell us about the ceremony:
I’m Jesse Gudino and my husband is David Armendariz. We are both first generation Americans born and raised in Houston, Texas and we've had a business together (Studio A Salon) for eight years now. Our wedding had been postponed 3 times due to covid. So, we decided to take the small window of travel this summer and elope in one of our favorite countries, Spain. We googled a photographer, found Joy Zamora, fell in love with his work, and decided Valencia, Spain is where we would say our nuptials.
Our elopement started with us bathing in an old palace marble tub, then a stroll through the city of Valencia, dressed in Versace and Fendi’s latest.
We took a boat ride through a local lake while indulging in Valencian Paella.
We finished our day on a secluded mountain top at sunset, El Pico del Águila in Yátova, Spain. This is where we said our vows, dressed in Alexander McQueen.
Tell us about the reception:
We didn't have any guests. We ate a traditional Spanish picnic and had a local flamenco group dance and serenade us. Mind you, our excellent wedding planner, Lorena of Eventos Clandestine, accomplished all this in one week!
What was the most important lesson you learned from your gay wedding in Spain?
That our wedding didn't have to be huge. Eloping made it about just us.Vendors behind this high fashion gay wedding in Spain:
