Our offbeat wedding at a glance:
My husband and I both worked in the horror field and are horror fanatics, so what better date to get married than on Friday the 13th? We incorporated a lot of horror into a traditional wedding. I had an aerialist to entertain the crowd and a photo booth, too.
If you watch the wedding trailer, you'll see our whole wedding party get killed off by Jason and there are throwbacks to the Dexter intro, too:
Tell us about the ceremony:
We had a pretty traditional ceremony, but incorporated a sand ceremony as well… that got stuck and wouldn't easily pour!
Tell us about your reception:
We had a late night wedding, so after the parents went home, there was dancing into the night. My father/daughter dance was "Wildflowers" by Tom Petty. Our first dance was "All About Us" by He is We ft. Owl City. And of course, "Thriller" was on the playlist!
What was your most important lesson learned?
I tried hard not to let others interfere with our vision for the wedding. We stood our ground when necessary. And because of our theme, I had to get a lot of things custom made.

That was my dress too—and I did Thriller in it! <3 I loved it and it looks fabulous on you. Ballsy beautiful wedding!
We’re getting married July 13, 2018 (yep, a Friday the 13th, chosen on purpose). Loved the movie, with its nods to different horror flicks (Poltergeist and The Shining, oh my!). This was dark and beautiful in all the right ways.
Dude, this is hardcore fucking awesome!!! Well done!
