WHAT ABOUT FLATS!?

Yes. What about flats?

We've got pages and pages of posts about wedding flats, but based on comments I receive, they're clearly the wedding shoe that seems to get the least love. EVERYONE WANTS MORE FLATS. So this week: FLATS!

Comments on WHAT ABOUT FLATS!?

  1. Goddommot, Mod Cloth. I love you, and your shoes are flipping wonderful, but can you pretty please get more than three pairs of each shoe in stock?

    • I know! I write these posts just a few days before they go live, and shoes are already sold out by the time the post goes up. Frustrating. :/

    • You can have them notify you if things come back in stock in a certain size by e-mail, which is nice 🙂 I used it once. I didn’t end up purchasing the item but they notified me a week or two afterwards letting me know it was in stock

      • It seems like every shoe I want from them is one they’re done with for good. XD I just have back luck with my shoe cravings.

  2. Heart of the Matter, OMG. I lust so hard. <3 Thanks for indulging the flats-obsessed crowd!

  3. I love the red flats! and theres red flats with sparkles even! gosh i must have a dorothy complex…

  4. I, too, was bummed that all the shoes I liked were sold out. But I’ve been on the search for a good pair of flats lately! I wore champagne ballet flats on my wedding day, and loved how COMFORTABLE they were. And I wear them all the time now, too.

  5. I have a problem with most flats. I find a lot of them to be ugly. I don’t understand why these places like Iron Fist can’t make a flat out of the same shoe that they make a heel. The only technical thing they are changing is removing the heel. I personally can’t walk in heels. Between arthritis and poor balance I’ll end up breaking a bone, but I want some super awesome shoes like these: http://tiny.cc/r5rzbw and yet can’t have them because they never make awesome shoes lie that in flats.

  6. butbutbutbutbut my wedding is tomorrow. Love the heart ones and the candy apples…

  7. hmmm, Love me some flats. But I’m still looking for something a bit more death metal or gothic looking.

  8. okay Ariel…next shoe post? Shoes with major arch support! Please….? I’ve got killer plantar fascitis, to the point of being 1/2 crippled by it if I wear the wrong shoes. I love love love your shoe posts, but have to love only from afar, due to my stupid feet!

  9. Holy crap I just came across these and wish they were in a combat boot style:

If they were or even in a flat I wouldn’t even dream of wearing something else.

    • You could totally DIY some combats like these, attach the spikes to some sturdy fabric, then glue the fabric to your boots with strong glue that doesn’t dry instantly so you have time to position it carefully and trim the excess. Or, you could get some red tartan fabric doc martens, like these: bit.ly/HqpFeN – and attach the spikes yourself 🙂

  10. I ordered a pair of gorgeous red peep toe heels before all our wedding costumes were done. When the 4ft by 5ft 20lb wings were finished I could barely walk in the heels so i improvised and snagged a pair of dark red flats on sale at payless. Added bonus, since i worked there, they were even cheaper!

  11. As a fairly dedicated flats-only, I guess the issue is that so often flats are just… boring. Some of these are cute enough, but yeah, stuff like… sneakers or boots or pennyloafers or whatnot, all of these can be flats, too! No or minimal heel doesn’t HAVE to equal ballet slipper.

Actually, I ended up buying (for non-wedding use) these INCREDIBLE boots based on their being profiled on OBB. They’re like the lovechildren of Star Wars and snowmen (two things I adore, adore, adore), and I get compliments on them like you wouldn’t believe.

And they are totally, absolutely flat.

    * And for the record: should I ever get remarried, I’m doing so in Vibram Five-Fingers.

    • I can’t wear ballet flats because I have to wear chunky orthotics in my shoes, but even if I could wear them, I wouldn’t – they seem so flimsy!

      • I can’t wear them for long periods either, without adding inserts. For my wedding I’ll be wearing kitten heels.

  12. That shoe #9 there, the gold glitter flat, is what I’d already ordered as my wedding shoe. It is SPARKLY GLITTERY in the sun. A little too much “toe cleavage,” but I think I can dance in them.

  13. How about some boots that are flat? There are just a few in the post about wedding boots, and most of them are combat-boot style… There’s got to be some ankle-supporting footwear out there that doesn’t have massive heels but doesn’t look like you’re about to ride off on a harley! (even if you are!)

  14. I bought a pair of inexpensive flats at DSW (only $35) and then got a pair of beautiful pearl and silver brooches to pin on them from ebay (only $10). I have never, ever been able to wear heels. I look at a pair of platforms wrong and I lose my balance. Also, I have terrible ankles, surgery on both, so heels were not the way to go.

  15. How about flats that aren’t something I would wear every day… I have about a dozen pairs of ballet flats that I wear every single day, but isn’t my wedding day supposed to be, i don’t know, special?!!??!?!?

I desperately want to wear heels that day, more than any other part of my outfit, I want to wear heels, but I can’t. My fiance is only an inch taller than me and hates it when I wear shoes that make me taller than him. And to be fair, I hate it too. But where is the middle ground between already being a giant (got a scholarship for it and everything) and actually feeling pretty instead of just awkward????

    • I hear you, Jen. I’m 2 inches taller than my fiance already, and although he could care less if I wore heels or not, I personally don’t want to. I think it will make the pics look awkward. I’m also not too keen on some of the flat styles. I think I’m going to wear a nice, fancy flat sandal. Something like this:

  16. Third row, last shoe looks exactly like the ones I wore on my wedding day! 🙂 They were comfortable and still had a “classic bridal” sort of look!

  17. Thank you SOOO much for showing various flat shoes! About a year ago, I had to have my big toe fused and can no longer wear any kind of heeled shoe. It is extremely frustrating when I see so many gorgeous high heeled bridal shoes and I can’t wear them as my foot no longer bends to accommodate the shoe. Thank you! Show more flats!!!!!

  18. @Tee: I so agree. Ballet slippers are overdone..

From Feesk Sandals, these are the UNIQUE, gorgeous, handmade bridal flats for my Mexican destination wedding! Mine is with navy ribbon instead of red, to match our wedding color! 🙂 Love them!!

  19. I just had to say that I have those shoes with the sparkly sequin hearts on the toe. The only difference is that they’re a light pink and I only paid $10 for them at Burlington Coat Factory. For real, exact same shoes. I looked at the picture and went, “OMG, those are my shoes!”. So yeah, if anyone’s crazy interested in them, that’s where you can get them.
(Also, I’m not not weird spambot endorsed by Burlington or something. I promise. NERDY THINGS AND WORDS! See?)
