Our fall wedding in Florida:
We met at the beginning of the pandemic when we didn’t know what the world was going to look like. We were both scared and alone… and found each other on Hinge. From the moment we met, it was an instant connection.
Our ceremony at our fall wedding in Florida:
I walked myself down the aisle. My dad passed away when I was 16, so I didn’t really want anyone to take that place. My brother walked down with my mom, and then I followed.
Wes walked down to an instrumental version of Everlong by the Foo Fighters (his favorite band). I walked down to The Wind by Cat Stevens, a special song that just fit the feelings I felt that day.
A comedian and close friend, Annette Gallagher officiated the ceremony. We’re both not religious and wanted someone who could be both hilarious and eloquent and Annette fit the bill perfectly. She even quoted some rom-coms like Eat Pray Love in her speech. Not a dry eye in the room.
We got married and walked back down to Perfect Day by Hoku (Legally Blonde soundtrack for the win).
Our fall wedding in Florida reception:
We got married on a Sunday Morning, so our theme was Fall… but also Sunday Brunch. When guests arrived, they were greeted with a “Moore-Mosa.”
We walked into the room as a couple to “WAP” by Cardi B and had everyone chant “There’s some Moore’s in this house!” My aunties didn’t care for it but oh well!
Our cake was a delicious coffee cake with mocha buttercream. For hor d’oeuvres, guests got mini bagels with lox, mini frittatas, fruit kabobs, and pastries.
Our first dance was to a cover of Times like These by the Foo Fighters. This version was actually recorded during the pandemic which was fitting for when we met.
What was the most important lesson you learned from your fall wedding in Florida?
To really understand that this day was about my partner and me. Everyone else’s opinions were irrelevant.
