How much do you love this idea from Jen and Kevin's Chicago wedding:
Our ceremony was non-religious (we wrote our own vows), and performed by a dear friend who got ordained via the internet. The ceremony kicked off with our officiant reading the intro lyrics to Prince's “Let's Go Crazy”:
Dearly beloved, we are gathered here to day to get through this thing called life…
Those who recognized it laughed and loved it. The older members of our families never knew it wasn't traditional.
These days, we're guessing most older family members would recognize the song, but still: It's nice to have a little wink at the start of your ceremony that actually doesn't feel out of place at all!
