The Offbeat Bride: Savy
Her offbeat partner: Nick
Date and location of wedding: Scottsburg, VA, USA (parent's backyard) — October 14, 2017
Our offbeat wedding at a glance:
We wanted an outdoorsy, Game of Thrones meets Burning Man meets Asian customs wedding.
Tell us about the ceremony:
It opened with a "Red Army" parade: a parade of our closest friends with banners, drums, bubbles, and flowers! The groom, Nick, also read family vows to my daughter.
Tell us about your reception:
We had 300 pounds of meat (because we both love food), belly dancers, live music, fire performers, and a bounce house!
What was your most important lesson learned?
Don't waste money on things that may only get trashed or returned after the fact. We focused on DIY, making things, and using only things that were recyclable afterwards. I made my bouquet, all the boutonnieres, the centerpieces, and most of the decor!

Photographer: Stellar Exposures • Dress: Ava Clara Boutique • Feather cape: Evolvewell Design • Carved skull: Artistry by Aletia • Bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces, decor: made by the bride
The bride looks like the kind of person I would love to hang out with along with her family. She has great taste in dress and shoulder wrap (and great arms).
Congrats!
