Sylvie and Aaron’s wedding in Kumarkom was one big cultural cocktail. They wanted three unique experiences for each day of their wedding, distinct from each other yet tied together under one grand theme.
At their rehearsal dinner, they embraced their American heritage with an all-white theme. The guests took a cruise on the beautiful backwaters before a sit-down dinner. Long tables draped in white were set beneath a canopy of bulbs and lanterns. Event designers, Devika Narain & Company, brought in Aaron’s favourite animal, the Indian elephant, into the theme in gold mats with laser-cut silhouettes.
The Sangeet (musical pre-party!) channeled the Indian side of the cultural backgrounds. There were rustic Indian lanterns all over the lobby and gold kerosene lanterns lining the pathways leading guests into the lawns.
The ceremony area of the wedding itself had tropical-inspired arches made of leaves with Indian brass lamps hanging from them and there were sequined tablecloths everywhere. You’ve got to see this gorgeous East-meets-West Backwater wedding in Kerala, India…
