Hotel insider info: How to book a block of hotel rooms for your wedding guests
I have worked in hospitality — at hotel front desks, bars, and even housekeeping — for years. Over those years I’ve picked up a few tips to make the wedding-and-hotel experience go a little smoother. Here are my tips on booking a block of hotel rooms for your wedding guests.
Help, my Google-fu is busted: How to turn Google into your wedding venue search engine
I’m convinced if I could save some money if I could find a venue not typically usually used for weddings. I started on Google, of course, but gave up after several hours. I can’t get a search engine to pull up any options like that because they aren’t typically considered a wedding venue. And if I search for anything that includes the word venue, I just get the expensive venues. Then I tried talking to family and friends. Then I went to Craigsist. Both were dead ends. Help?
Brandi & Jonah’s pinwheels and cheesecake state park wedding
The details in this wedding are ultra fun: pinwheels, a crocheted bouquet and boutonnieres, lawn games in the park, a purty ring puppy… not to mention a Mexican buffet and a meaningful cheesecake! Yep, meaningful. You’ll see why. This bride completely battled through a new diagnosis to get through wedding planning, and her love and perseverance shine. Plus, she has some advice for taking on the haters that any of ya’ll can use.
Discarding wedding traditions and getting married on our own terms
With every questionable-twist of the lip, my matrimony-related-decision-making process, comes slightly un-done and I’m left asking myself; if the decisions I’m making about our wedding, which will ultimately be the bunting-draped rocket that launches us into married life, are the right ones for us? I’m talking about the decisions that dictate how much, and what kind of tradition we’ll be incorporating into our marriage. This I know, is the female fiasco that plagues every slightly-inclined-to-call-herself-feminist-thinking bride to ever question the merits of “something blue.”
Lindsay & Ashraf’s multi-lingual vegan-friendly atheist wedding
A city hall ceremony started this pair off in matrimony, and then it was topped off by a three-day weekend of barbecues, brunches, and of course, a big ol’ multi-lingual party! Just wait until you see their M.C. Escher-inspired invitation, Wall-E cake toppers, and fruit centerpieces. But the best part is their funniest moments, which involve an overly enthusiastic ring dad and a translated baby. WHAT.
Jessica & Josiah’s space-themed breakfast-for-dinner wedding
Space: the final wedding frontier. Or you know, a pretty rad frontier with lightsabers in the photo booth, star-covered custom Converse, handmade vanilla extract favors, and breakfast for dinner. It’s like these two read my mind. Oh wait, there’s a donut tower, too? Let’s be best friends, awesome cafe wedding in Maine.
