We hope you saw Alli and Raine's star-studded (literally) astrology-themed wedding a few weeks ago! Today we're featuring their vows to each other. Prepare to be absolutely blown away by their poetic words… and maybe grab a few tissues before you begin.

Raine's astrology wedding vows:

You once jokingly-not-jokingly asked me early on in our relationship
why I hadn’t written a love poem for you yet –
I didn’t know how to answer that at the time.
The truth was –
I was and continue to be blindsided by how inarticulate you make me.
The way I feel for you has always been impossible to put into words.

However,
of all the great muses in the world
who have had love poems written for them,
I can’t think of one more deserving than you.
Consider this my attempt to write you that love poem:
Knowing that it isn’t a lack of my own talent
If I don’t capture our extraordinary devotion
But the futility of the English language’s reach.

Wise men say only fools rush in –
But you talk so damn fast you didn’t really give me a choice.
Truth is, I fell in love with you instantly and all at once
And doesn’t that transcend wisdom?
Truth is – I am careful,
Obsessed with making the right decisions
And it took you for me to realize that sometimes
Inevitability smacks you in the face
and wisdom is something you create with someone.

I promise to grow into wisdom with you,
To help you make careful decisions
And to remind you to be careless when you need it most.
I promise to dance with you the same way
We danced together the first night we met.

I promise you will never know a life without a good meal.
I promise to be there for the tears, of which there are many
And be thankful for every single one of them,
Because you are a person who is capable of immense empathy, passion, and joy
And I promise to always remind you that is what makes you perfect.

I promise to uphold all the mundane promises of married life,
Like making sure you don’t have that last drink at the end of the night
Or reminding you to bring your phone charger with you to work,
And be prepared to fulfill the unknown promises the future holds,
However trivial or monumental they might be.
I promise to always make sure that what we have
Feels as inevitable as it did on the first day we met.

It is an absolute honor to be your man.
You’re the Lorelei to my Luke,
The David to my Peter,
The Nureyev to my Juno,
The Viktor to my Yuri,
And yes, I’ll admit it, in front of witnesses
The Marshall to my Lily.
And of course, I will always, always leave room
For whatever pairing comes next
Because there is nothing better than watching you watch the things you love.

And know that no matter what accolades
those screenwriters or directors have amassed,
No matter how brilliant the show or song or book,
It is just a reminder that what we have is a love uncapturable.
You make everything easy, except my job as a writer,
Truth is,
This poem has nothing on what you give me.
Because what you have given me is the definition of the word love.

So, in other words,
I promise to make sure not a day goes by
Where I won’t say I love you
And make sure you know
With every action that I take,
and every breath until my last,
That those three words
Will have to do
For what you have blessed me with.

Alli's astrology wedding vows:

So writing something like this when the love of your life is a writer professionally and a sap wholeheartedly is a lot – so I look at some of our favorite married couples.

Marshall and Lily were college sweethearts, Ben Wyatt looked everywhere for something to care about and found Leslie Knope, Luke Danes waited like 20 years for Lorelai to be ready – we love these stories and their love but none of them are quite right. We get the friends-to-lovers-everyone-can-see-it kinda story.

In the Penumbra Podcast episode you still haven’t listened to, two people meeting and falling in love is seen as a miracle – not because of cosmic forces – but because it is just so statistically unlikely that, it must be special and precious. I think we both know there’s a little bit of stardust in our meeting – a little fated before our first encounter. But I think astronomical improbability is also miraculous. Knowing just how many ways, our lives could’ve turned out, and instead they turned out this way – it’s so powerful to me.

But of course, it wasn’t just fate’s dice roll; it was also art and music – Hedwig. In Hedwig (from Plato), the idea is that your soulmate – your other half – is someone that you lost in the past. Maybe there is something in the universe that will reunite you but until then, you’re alone.**

Because I’m pedantic I also have to say one of the points of Hedwig is we all need to be our own other halves – we are whole people. But something in the shape of this universe changed in April 2014, the first time we shared the same air, and something fizzled into existence that July when we met for the first time.

Raine – we are whole people. And you are my soulmate. There is something about you and I that made sense to the universe and we found it and forged it into something great. I really believe that.

The other insight into love Hedwig gives us is “Love creates something that was not there
before.” My love for you and your love for me have created so much that wasn’t there before – from
our family and friends we’ve brought together, to art, to our home, to just us and the people we’ve become.

We have spent the last 8 years supporting each other, pushing each other to grow, learning when to set down roots and when to take flight. We’ve dealt with amazing opportunity, death, sickness, being broke and luxe vacations, jobs we hate and jobs we love. We’ve been an us for so long now I barely remember what is was like to be a me.

We are each whole people. But you are my other half. It’s been a hell of a few years. I don't know about you but I am up for another 50. I love you and I like you, let’s do this.
