Serena from Love by Serena Photography shot Lindsay and Joe's Renaissance-themed, ultra DIY wedding. Note the fantastic flower braids in Lindsay's hair.

Here's a close-up of her delicate sleeves and flowers. I love that it's a hint of Renaissance but totally contemporary.

Gorgeous nest-eggs-faery combo and ethereal flowers blurring the view. It's like we're sneaking a peek at her.

Outdoor ceremonies always get me. And I'm loving the non-matchy groomsmen and bridesmen.

Here comes the DIY part. Lindsay and Joe crafted the card box themselves, both creating the structure and painting it. Look at the antique finish. They also made the centerpieces and favors themselves. I want to befriend these people.

I love the look of an intimate table for two as the head table. They also have some beautiful multicolored glasses.

The pièce de résistance of this Renaissance theme has to be the hacking of the cupcake with a battle axe. That cake didn't stand a chance. Amazing.

Um, NOM. They had strawberries and cream, lemon, peanut butter cup, and vanilla chocolate. So pretty, so neat.

I have a penchant for a garden gnome, so this was detail shot was getting included. This was their cupcake topper, natch!

Serena said of this shot, “I just had to include this one in the blog post. I heart the napkin cape.” I do as well. He was just getting into the spirit of things. For the rest of this inspired party, head to Love by Serena's Photography blog.

    • I’ve seen some decorative book storage boxes in stores. Even some that looks like stacks of books. Looks like they cut the bottoms off a couple and stacked them.
Check places like Hobby Lobby. I know I’ve seen them at Big Lots and Beall’s Outlet- not sure if you have those stores in your area or not.

      Really cute idea!

  10. Ooh, I love those sleeves! They’re making me want opera gloves over here. And I *so* want a battleaxe for the cake-cutting! Now that it’s in my head, I can’t imagine it any other way!
