When OBT member Caitlin first introduced us to her wedding card nomming monster he (yes, it's a he) looked like this…
Caitlin explains, “We were contemplating an interesting wedding card recepticle. My first idea was a decorated mailbox so people could leave us ‘mail' in the form of wedding cards. I was pretty pleased with this idea since I haven't seen it anywhere else.”
But her partner had even bigger and better plans for their little monster…
He suggested glueing eyes and teeth on the thing and making it a Wedding Card Nom-Monster. They even added arms and a sign saying, “I Can Haz Ur Wedding Cardz pls? Nom nom!”
Heather and Matt had lots of 8-bit references in their wedding, but our favorite was definitely their Nintendo card box. The best part was their... Read more
And here is the final result, gaze upon the Wedding Card Nom-Monster in all it's noming glory…
How awesome is this guy!? Thanks to Caitlin for sharing this and, I'm sure, being the spark that spawned a hoard of Nom-Monsters taking over wedding card duties.
OMG! I want! This is an amazing idea. I’m gonna see if I can make one to fit my theme…(oh the ideas!)
De-lurking to say that this is AWESOME!
So kyoooooooot! I made a Mario question block with a floating 8-bit heart for our card box.
Oh that is just the most fantastic thing I have seen today!
That made my day!
I’m copying this. No joke. Although I may paint the mailbox in kitty stripes or cover it in fur to make it look like a cat monster.
How f**king adorable!
This so so so friggin cool.
epic lulz
I hate that I want to do this, but I really really want to “steal” this idea! UGH! It’s so fricken fantastic!!!!
Haha, feel free to steal at will! 🙂
Hi Caitlin,
How did you fastern the arms on? What are the arms made of?
My daughter is getting married in 3 weeks and loves it.
thanks
I want this. And not as a wedding card box, but sitting in front of my house as my everyday mailbox.
I CAN HAS MAIL PLZ
hellz yeah!
Wish we had regular mailboxes ’round here, but you only see them in the country or a few neighborhoods that are in the not-so-nice areas of town.
Thanks everyone! When we made this I knew that other OBBs could do SO much more with this. We are not crafty people at all so this was a huge DIY project for us. And all it took was some styrofoam balls, hot glue, a stuffed monkey, and some posterboard. 🙂
As awesome as this is, I now pity the poor armless monkey. xD
HAHA Rob had to throw it away after we cut off its arms because he felt so bad for it and couldn’t stand to look at it! 🙁
oh my goodness, i love it! theres no way i can’t use this idea!
I LOVE this little guy. I want to take him home and make him my pet- and hope that my fiance does not call the nice men in white suits for having a random mailbox as a pet. It should be fine… as long as I don’t start talking to him, right? Haha.
I adore card monsers. I was first introduced to them on ruffledblog last year. Yes, ruffled. We’re all guilty of hitting up the mainsteam wedding sites once in a great while so don’t judge! Lol. Anyway, I cannot access the post (which is sad because they had the full story of this kick ass couple), but it was one of the best weddings ever! I typed in “queer wedding pink dress bowling alley” into google search, or you can follow this link: msawesome.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Jessica_nik8.jpg
Thank you Caitlin, this monster is sooo cute. I am sure quite a few brides will find this to be a rather good source of inspiration! 🙂 🙂 🙂
I showed my fiance this link and he came home with a mailbox.
We did something simular, only we antiqued ours and stuck our names on it..lol Totally would of done this monster though!
I’m doing this for our wedding. 🙂 We got the mailbox at Lowe’s, got some googly eyes and big, fat pipe cleaners for arms. I’m super excited to finish him this weekend :):) Its like the most non-my-mother part of my wedding!!! YAY!
This is one of the coolest things ever! My maid of honour and I made one of these little guys, but we also made him fuzzy, with black fun fur. He was a hit at my wedding!
I completely stole this idea. Like even the wording on the sign. I apologize and thank you all at once!
