Date and location of wedding: Ecotrust in Portland, OR — May 19, 2018
Our offbeat wedding at a glance:
We had a whimsical, Alice in Wonderland wedding with retro style.
Tell us about the ceremony:
We had a short ceremony with my grandpa giving an introduction. The minister is a friend and included our story of how our relationship started because of our common interest in Lord of the Rings. There was a grassy aisle runner with long tables on either side and a rose garland backdrop.
I had oversized flowers as my bouquet.
Tell us about your reception:
We had an Alice in Wonderland-themed tea party with tea sandwiches, soup in small espresso cups, salad in large mugs, fruit, lemonade, tea, toadstool cupcakes, macarons, and candy!
We had black and white striped table runners with teapot centerpieces filled with roses and daisies, surrounded by moss and grass decor (including moss bunnies!), and vintage clocks. There was a photo booth area with a boxwood backdrop, vintage furniture, gold frames, flamingo croquet mallets, and lots of props. Our food tables had “eat me” and “drink me” signs.
The guest book/gift table had “this way, not that way” sign, seed bombs labeled “take me,” Alice in Wonderland temporary tattoos, and topiaries.
We also had a checkerboard dance floor with large chess pieces surrounding it. The playlist was a mix of Disney, jazz, and pop-punk –our favorite being “Death of a Bachelor” by Panic! at the Disco.
There was also a rooftop terrace overlooking the city with a fireplace that guests had access to. We had an amazing time.
