Wedding planners are often a bit of a conundrum to newly engaged couples. What do they do? How can they help? Are they even affordable to me? We decided to speak to an amazing NYC-based wedding planner and partner of ours, Sarah at Pollyanna Events, to see what the whole deal was with wedding planners. Thing the is, Sarah introduced us to a whole NEW concept for couples who may not be able to afford the whole kit-and-caboodle of wedding planning. And I needed to introduce this to you because it.is.RAD.
Here's Sarah on the topic of wedding planning…
I had always been a crafty person, striving to think creatively, outside the box, and just plain be different than the others around me. I decided to take those qualities and make them the foundation of my planning company. I now own a successful multi-city wedding and event planning company with a focus on DIY projects. However, after teaching myself everything there was to know about running a business in this unique (and competitive) industry, I felt like I still had some serious untapped potential, and was determined to figure out what it was I felt was missing.
After working with many couples on their weddings, and being passed up by quite a few more couples, I had an “ah-ha” moment! I thought, there are so many couples that know they need a planner but can't afford one. And, there are couples that do not fully understand what a planner does or how they would benefit them in planning their wedding.
Eureka! A wedding planning kit
Enter the Pollyanna Planning Kit. Sarah crafted this new kind of wedding planning kit that comes equipped with gifts from some amazing vendors (like temporary tattoos, cookie dough, essential oil!) a fun DIY project to complete, and a USB drive that has every document you'll need needed to plan a wedding from beginning to end. The documents are key: they're the same documents that the Pollyanna team uses daily to professionally plan weddings.
On the USB drive, the documents walk each couple through the planning process by giving them examples, tips and tricks, and guidelines of how to plan a successful wedding. Best part? They apply to ANY kind of wedding from a tiny elopement to a 300+ guest gala. You can be throwing a traditional banquet hall wedding or a weird and awesome bar wedding and you'll be able to adapt these tools to your needs.
Sarah gives a little overview in this vid that you should totally see:
Give the kit as a gift to an engaged friend
Helping out a friend? This little wonder kit is the perfect engagement gift (whether your friend is hiring a planner or not!). It's a killer way to give the gift of LESS STRESS to your engaged pal.
Or Sarah can plan it for you!
We get it: this self-planning style of kit is helpful, but sometimes you just want a wedding planner, month-of coordinator, or day-of coordinator to help, too. Pollyanna Events plans weddings in New York and Connecticut (and beyond!) and can take your level of wedding awesomeness up to eleven. The team is mindful of budget concerns, community and family traditions, and being authentic to you. They bring all of that together to make sure you're getting the best deals (they WILL save you money!) and throwing the best damn party you can.
