How you chose to do your COVID-19 vaccine wedding invitation wording depends on a few factors…
- Are these requirements coming from the couple, or are they coming from the venue? Setting boundaries with loved ones isn’t the easiest thing for many of us, so if your venue has vaccine requirements, don’t be afraid to lean on them.
- How many guests will you be inviting? Depending on your guest list, this can really impact the tone of your messaging. For example, if you’re inviting 200 people, your wording may take on a more general tone. If you’re inviting 25 people, your relationship with those 25 people may give you room to inject more personality.
- Finally, where do you want your vaccination requirement messaging to appear? Placement is important to consider, as every option brings with it a different set of restrictions. For example, if you have a longer explanation, you you might want to use an insert with paper invitations, or a note on the details panel for digital invitations. If you’re planning on a shorter message to your invitees, maybe the wording could be included on a response card.
That in mind, here are COVID-19 vaccine wedding invitation wording examples for several of different scenarios & contexts:
Context #1: General vaccination requirements, enforced by venue
Placement: Anywhere

Context #1: General vaccination requirements to attend
Placement: Insert / Details panel
Wording example:
While we’re both so looking forward to our big day, we wanted to take a moment to address something that we fully understand is a very complex and nuanced topic: COVID-19 vaccinations. We want to celebrate our wedding with as many of our loved ones as possible, but we also want to be as safe as possible; our wedding day is one we hope can be looked back upon as a joyful occasion, and not as one where COVID-19 was spread. That’s why we’ve decided that in order to attend our wedding, guests must be fully vaccinated. We understand if you aren’t in full agreement with our decision, but we only ask that you respect it, as this was not an easy decision at which to arrive. Please submit your RSVP accordingly by [insert date].
Context #3: General vaccination requirements to attend

We request that all attending guests be fully vaccinated, be cognizant of social distancing, and follow local guidelines regarding masking in indoor spaces.
Context #4: General vaccination requirements to attend

___ Vaccinated and attending
___ Not attending
Of course this is just the tip of the iceberg — there are many more ways in which to communicate COVID-19 vaccination requirements to your guests, whether you’re sending paper invitations or digital invitations. But as long as you are communicating from a place of love and groundedness, setting these sometimes difficult boundaries with friends and family will be worth it in creating your perfect wedding celebration.
This is very helpful and I’m going to pass it along to couples I know who’ve been struggling with this. They want their guests to be safe and happy but they’ve had some really angry reactions from some family members who’ve had some pretty strong words to say about some very reasonable precautions.
