Hats are in vogue now (due in part to some across-the-pond influence), but not at all as much as they were in the '70s. Brides were rockin' all kinds of hat madness and this bride from 1972 is no exception. Her derby hat and veil combo and his cowboy hat are a match made in headwear heaven. And I'm going nuts for the ruffle and dickie bow.
And is our bride not a dish? This is a gorgeous pair with a pretty offbeat concept. Here is what Bree said about her submission:
My parents were married on September 29, 1972. They will be celebrating their 39th anniversary this year. They had an Old West/Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid-themed wedding. They had six weeks to plan the wedding. My mom and grandma designed the wedding dress and five bridesmaid dresses, and my grandma and great-grandma made all six dresses in a month!
The wedding dress had 133 hand-covered fabric buttons. They also had enough cake for 600 people, and the only cake my parents got was the bite that they fed each other (or rather, that my dad smashed into my mom's face), because they had so many guests!
