About Roost Photography
Roost Photography was born from a sudden epiphany: A lot of my friends’ wedding photos sorta suck.
My friends were amazing humans—unique, fun, and full of life—but their wedding photos were underexposed, poorly edited, and—worst of all—boring! When I looked at their photos, I didn’t feel like my friends had been seen.
Soon after, I changed careers and founded Roost because every couple deserves fantastic photos and a photographer who sees THEM and is excited to tell THEIR story. We all have an interesting backstory – mine gave me a deep awareness of social dynamics and emotional visibility that has allowed me to be a valuable asset for clients seeking genuine and unforced documentation of their experiences. I love having a front-row seat as couples celebrate their engagement and wedding. My work combines artistic composition, natural posing, documentary instincts, movement, and FUN!

Frequently Asked Questions
One of my biggest joys as a photographer is working with offbeat couples. Growing up cult-adjacent, my community did their best to get me to color inside all their lines, but I was terrible at it and kept getting worse as I met more and more amazing people who lived “outside” of the lines! Working with unique people, especially LGBTQ couples, feels like reclaiming all the childhood life, joy, and color that others tried to stifle.
Also, having faced my parents’ disappointment with my offbeat life, I am extra tuned into the family dynamics many couples face on their wedding day.
Additional Information
I specialize in documenting weddings + elopements in a couple-centric way that emphasizes their unique connection and personality.
Every couple deserves a photographer who is excited to tell their story, and my focus is on capturing the love, laughter, and moments that matter for the couples I work with. I love vibrant colors and fun photos! I love photography, Milwaukee, and cool people with great stories.

Brandon J Brown

I am a wedding photographer married to a LandD nurse, raising three teenagers and one Vinny (our very furry Ttoodle – Tibetan Terrier/poodle)! Our family consists of five humans and one dog living in the fantastic community of East Tosa (part of the greater Milwaukee area). In 2019, we bought a big, old duplex in Tosa that we are slowly renovating into our dream home. When I am not taking photos, you will find me remodeling our house, listening to vintage vinyl, reading books (mostly fantasy), running, biking, hiking in the mountains, making pizza, or sampling tasty beers and bourbons.
I love having a front-row seat as couples celebrate their engagement and wedding. I love being there to capture the love, laughter, and moments that matter. My work is a mixture of artistic composition, natural posing, documentary instincts, movement, and FUN! For as long as I can remember, I have loved taking photographs. Throughout my childhood, I would steal my dad’s Minolta 35mm and use all his film. In middle school, I had a vintage Polaroid camera and was always running out of film. My high school graduation gift from my parents was a 35mm camera that I used so much that it wore out in 13 months. My cameras these days don’t run out of film, last longer, and are much nicer – but the lifelong passion for chasing light and freezing moments of time keeps growing.
