Reverend Katherine
I'm no canned officiant. I'm a queer, feminist, cosplay-loving poet. I'm about crafting the coolest wedding you've ever been to — yours! — whatever your shape, size, color, gender, quirk, or kink. I started doing weddings because my BFF from our childhood Girl Scout troop asked me to. I kept doing weddings because I LOVE weddings. And I'm great at them. I want every wedding I go to to be an amazing, hilarious, sacred, musical, gorgeous, fun, awe-inspiring testimony to love. I started kept doing weddings so that more would be that way.
And I keep doing weddings because so many people aren't great at them. I've been to weddings — and I bet you have too — where the officiant mispronounces one of the grooms' names, talks over the bride's stutter, or forgets to send in the marriage license. I promise not to do that to you.
If you're looking for a wedding that expresses a sense of the sacred without the sanctimony, where the language is authentic to who you are and aspire to be, I'd love to talk to you about your ceremony.
How I cater to offbeat weddings
What’s the sacred text of your relationship? Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, the Bible, punk rock, Sappho, Star Wars, the Kama Sutra? Whatever is important to you and your spouse-to-be, that’s where we will start to craft a meaningful wedding ceremony together.
Religion is in the eye of the beholder. We never have to mention any sort of deity; your wedding will nevertheless be sacred, because you are declaring love to another person. That said, if you want it to be religious, let’s talk about what that means to you and your partner. If she’s Christian and you’re atheist, we can make that work. If they’re Jewish and you’re Muslim, I read both Hebrew and Arabic. I can set up a Pagan altar and I once blessed a wedding with Mjolnir; I want your wedding to be worthy of you.
"My husband and I were an absolute disaster when it came to ceremony planning. We can throw a party for sure, but the writing was another story. Katherine not only graciously put up with us, she wrote us a perfectly custom ceremony and helped us through a Murphy's-Law-Series-of-Unfortunate-Events-level-hilarious ceremony that multiple guests immediately called the best wedding they'd ever been to. Even my ultra-Catholic grandfather said it was weird but a lot of fun! She truly knows how to walk the line and create a unique ceremony you'll love without letting you offend anyone! We could not have chosen anyone better." - Christina
Rev. Katherine was so, so lovely to work with! She took the time to get to know us as a couple, and the ceremony she wrote for us was personal and perfect. (We actually had multiple guests comment after the ceremony that it was so "us" - wow!) She was amazing at accommodating our mix of religious+atheist beliefs with no judgement, and easily integrated all the specific details we discussed. It was very important to us to find an officiant who actively supported our feminist and progressive beliefs, and I could tell immediately that Katherine was on our same wavelength. She is smart and kind, and also a lot of fun! We felt completely relaxed and comfortable working with her, and would recommend her to anyone!" - Julie
