How I cater to offbeat weddings

This is one of the most important fields on your vendor listing! Our readers love to feel special and like you understand the issues that are important to them -- stuff like LGBTQ support, gender-neutral contracts, and inclusive sizing. They also love hearing about how offbeat YOU are, so be sure to mention any of your own quirks as a way to relate to folks.

<i><span style="font-weight: 400">Quite frankly the wedding industry remains very ableist/sizeist/racist/heteronormative, and as a result the media representation of any people or relationships that don’t fit in the box of thin/white/straight/non-disabled is still very small. </span></i>

<i><span style="font-weight: 400"><strong>I want to change that.</strong> </span></i>

<i><span style="font-weight: 400">The best way I’ve found in my business is to simply create the work and celebrate the relationships I want to see better represented in the wedding industry, and bring more vendors in that share the same goals. The ripple effect of that can be so incredible and I’ve seen how validating it can be for clients I’ve worked with to be able to see themselves celebrated and photographed in that way, and also for others to be able to see a body, identity or relationship that looks like theirs. </span></i>

<strong>I consider myself a "wedding industry disruptor" because I want to see to it that more people feel seen and celebrated for who they are and who they love throughout their wedding planning process and beyond.</strong>

A little about my own wedding experience -

My partner and I went from planning a traditional 100 person wedding to realizing that wasn’t what truly felt like “us”, and switched gears to have an intimate Oregon forest elopement instead. We had a teary-eyed first look, a live butterfly release during our ceremony, and romantic portraits in front of a waterfall. I ripped a hole in my dress on a tree root. We ate S’mores by the campfire. My husband even took my last name! It was all perfect.

We followed our hearts, and I'm so glad we did.
