About Legend Bridal Designs

Legend Bridal creates gothic and alternative wedding dresses for people who want to feel unmistakably themselves on their wedding day.

From our studio in Lancashire, UK, our small team of specialist makers designs and hand finishes every  detail in-house. Our collection of Immortals moves from ethereal and romantic to gloriously dark and dramatic… black lace, rich color, unexpected textures, sweeping sleeves and silhouettes made for taking up space.

Every design is named after and inspired by immortals, goddesses and deities from stories and mythologies around the world. We choose them not for religious meaning, but for the stories they carry: strength, transformation, wisdom, hope, independence, gratitude and the many different ways we find our way through life. They’re dresses designed to make you feel powerful in your own story.

And our collection is only the beginning.

For those able to travel to our UK studio for fittings, our dresses can be adapted, combined and completely reimagined, giving you the freedom of bespoke without having to imagine your wedding dress from a sketch. Change the color, sleeves, neckline, fabrics or details; bring together elements from different Immortals; or talk to us about creating something entirely your own.

Can’t make it to the UK? You can still wear a Legend.

We work with couples internationally and can create our existing Immortal designs for shipping overseas. We’ll guide you through taking measurements remotely and make your gown to our size chart, ready for any final fitting adjustments to be carried out by a trusted seamstress local to you. Full bespoke and significant design modifications, however, are reserved for clients who can attend fittings with us in person.

We’ve spent over 13 years dressing alternative people, and we’ve learnt that finding your wedding dress isn’t really about following rules for your body shape, your wedding aesthetic, or what someone getting married is “supposed” to look like.

It’s about confidence.

That wonderful moment when you look in the mirror and recognise yourself.

Come exactly as you are

Pricing & Packages

We believe you should be able to fall in love with a dress knowing whether it fits your budget.

That’s why we’re transparent about our pricing, with prices for our collection published on our website.

Our Immortals collection typically ranges from £1,900–£2,700, with full bespoke gowns starting from £3,000. Customisation is quoted individually depending on the changes you’d like to make.

We also offer flexible payment plans where time allows.

International clients are also given clear information about shipping and any additional costs before ordering – we don’t like financial surprises any more than you do.

Additional Information

You don’t need to change yourself to shop with us.

We don’t put conventional dress sizes on our samples. Instead, our Symbol Sizing system helps us find the pieces most likely to fit without reducing anybody to a number on a label.

We don’t believe in rules about which silhouettes you can wear for your body shape, whether you’re “alternative enough”, what underwear you should arrive in, or what somebody getting married is supposed to look like.

Our studio is built around curiosity rather than judgement. Bodies change. Disabilities and access needs differ. Brains work differently. Gender and identity are personal. Families come in countless forms. None of those things make you difficult to dress.

Our job is to listen, use the specialist skills we’ve spent more than 13 years developing, and help you find a dress in which you feel comfortable, powerful and recognisably yourself.

Come exactly as you are.

Love from Offbeat Couples

Legend made both mine and my wife’s dresses and the experience was so fun and easy right the way through. We could not be more different in both taste and body shape, our dresses were both customised and altered through several fittings to be unique and perfect for us. No detail was too much trouble. It was beautiful to go into a wedding dress shot that’s made for people like us, and where we felt right at home from the start. Big love for the Legend team.

– Amy

It has been wonderful for us to share this experience with you. I love your work and you have treated us with kindness and warmth ever since we first met. I cannot thank you enough for making my dreams come true: on my wedding day, I wore a dress that fit perfectly and reflected my style. That was very important to me. Thank you for what you do and thank you for what you have done for us!

I didn’t think in a million years that I would ever have so much fun or feel so comfortable trying on dresses, and to come away feeling a little bit bad ass! The whole experience has been unforgettable.

– Santella

Thank you for making me the most incredible dress for my wedding day. I got so many compliments on how amazing it was. They even loved that it was black!
I am so happy I found you guys and made the 8 hour trip twice! Thank you for making the entire process so special.

– Tamsin

My dress was absolutely phenomenal and an actual work of art. I went into my initial consultation wanting one dress and came out with a completely different version of another. Each of my appointments was filled with excitement, it just made the whole experience that much more positive. Rachel and the team worked absolute magic bringing my dress to life. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

– Abby

I was absolutely amazed by the service provided by Legend Bridal! Everyone was so friendly and helpful. They really made my dress dress as wonderful as I imagined. I wanted ivory but for hidden gothic details to run through the design and everyone absolutely loved it. Thank you again!

– Hollie

Had the best experience (again) with the lovely ladies at Legend Bridal – considering how nervous I was about finding something I was comfortable with. They are just the nicest people. And they’re just the right people for me! Never thought I’d be having a fitting whilst chatting about Nightwish! Even got a brief call in with Eric so he could see what was going on!

– Charlotte

I’m so glad I found Legend Bridal! It was such a relief to find a wedding dress supplier that specialises in black wedding dresses and every single one is absolutely stunning. The quality of the dresses was incredible, and I felt amazing wearing it on my big day.
The team were always warm, helpful and friendly. Thank you so much for making me feel like the best version of myself. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

– Mollie

Legend are the most amazing. I did the most extensive research and took my ass from London the Lancashire and I was not disappointed. The pure craft that goes into these dresses is phenomenal and each one is a work of art. The service from Rachel was brilliant with each fitting too. It was so worth the journey and so worth the money for such a stunning dress on the day.

What was the moment you realized you didn't fit into the traditional wedding industry?

There wasn’t a moment. We never fitted. In the early days we were rejected from wedding fairs and weren’t invited onto styled shoots. At the time, we assumed it was because our craftsmanship wasn’t good enough yet, so for a while we toned down our designs and tried to make ourselves a little easier for the traditional wedding industry to understand. It didn’t work. We still got the pained expressions. The occasional grandmother asking, “But they’re not wedding dresses though, are they?” or, “Do people actually wear these?” One bride looked around our collection and cheerfully told us, “Well, at least I know where to come if I literally can’t find a dress anywhere else!” Her partner spat his drink out. We somehow kept straight faces. Eventually we realised the problem wasn’t that our work wasn’t good enough. We were just too weird for the spaces we were trying to fit into. So we stopped trying. We made the dresses darker. We followed the ideas that excited us. We found photographers, makers and wedding suppliers who saw what we saw. Eventually, we helped create our own spaces for alternative businesses and couples to find one another. The funny thing is that the wedding industry has changed enormously since then. Black dresses aren’t shocking anymore. Alternative weddings have their own thriving corner of the industry. Some of the things that once made us “too weird” are now trends. But I’m very glad we learnt not to wait for the traditional wedding industry to make room for us. We made our own.

Describe your aesthetic in three words that have nothing to do with weddings.

Unapologetic, authentic, intentional

Have you planned your own wedding? How did it change how you work?

I got married 23 years ago, and planning our wedding was probably my first experience of how difficult it can be to create a wedding that genuinely reflects you when the world around you has quite a fixed idea of what a wedding should look like. We planned a handfasting and found ourselves explaining over and over what that meant. I remember my grandma taking me aside and asking when I’d stopped believing in God. I wanted our wedding to feel like us, but I also loved my family and wanted them to have a wonderful day. Reconciling those things was harder than I’d expected. And then there was the dress. I knew I wasn’t wearing white. I considered red for ages, but every time we went fabric shopping I couldn’t commit. I’d never seen a black wedding dress and couldn’t quite give myself permission to go there – I thought everyone would be horrified. Eventually my mum realised red wasn’t me either and essentially banned me from considering anything except black. Weirdly, having someone else give me that permission was exactly what I needed. Everyone loved it. Nobody could imagine me wearing anything else. Even the staff at our venue lined up to see the bride in black. That experience has stayed with me ever since. Sometimes people know exactly who they are, but still need someone to tell them they’re allowed to bring that person to their wedding. I’d rather not have had a wedding at all than have one that didn’t feel like mine. I understand now that a lot of other people feel exactly the same.

What's the most surprising client feedback you've ever gotten?

It’s a toss-up between “I thought the music would be heavier” – which wounded my goth credentials slightly – and the client who told me nobody had ever made her feel so comfortable standing around in just her knickers. Honestly, I think I’m prouder of the second one. Wedding dress shopping can leave you feeling incredibly exposed, both physically and emotionally. If someone can stand in our fitting room in their underwear, chatting away without feeling self-conscious, we’ve created the kind of space we want Legend to be. We did turn the music down for people’s grandparents, though. I stand by that decision.
