About Hello Super Studios

Super 8 Wedding Films in New York & France

We are a small team of wedding filmmakers based in New York and France, dedicated to documenting celebrations with real film. Because we’ve been capturing events with super 8 film for well over a decade, you could call us experts (or maybe just film nerds). We’re obsessed with the feel-good nostalgic vibes, the warm grainy tones and the timeless romantic feelings that only analog film produces. We believe that love on film is the ideal medium to transport you back to that very time and place, allowing you to feel true emotions all over again.

Services Offered

We like to keep things simple. Select either a pure super 8 film or opt to include digital HD video scenes with audio recording of the important moments that you might like to preserve in full. We also have options for micro weddings, elopements, proposals and honeymoons.

Film Love
Nostalgic & timeless. Your day will be beautifully captured on super 8 film then expertly edited to music. No extra frills, just pure film magic which will let you relive the feelings all over again. *Super 8 is a silent medium but we do offer audio recording as an add-on option.

Modern Love
With this package you get the best of both worlds—your day captured on super 8 film and creatively edited to music + digital HD video and audio recording of your ceremony, first dance/parent dances and toasts. All full digital scenes are included as separate films.

Micro weddings, Elopements & Proposals
A short and sweet super 8 film is the perfect way to relive and share your intimate wedding, elopement or proposal. With just a couple hours of coverage, we will discuss the possibilities to capture and to preserve this special occasion.

DIY Honeymoon Film
Take one of our easy-to-use vintage cameras with a few rolls of film on your honeymoon to capture this once in a lifetime vacation. We send off your exposed film to the lab then expertly edit it to music.

How long have you been in business and why are qualified to film my wedding? We like to think of ourselves as the OG’s of super 8 wedding films. We were one of the first companies to shoot weddings exclusively on film and have been keeping the medium alive since 2009! We love seeing the resurgence of film for a younger generation but that also comes with people offering wedding films on super 8 without really knowing how much thought and attention goes into it. We’ve seen a lot of sloppy work out there but super 8 can be so cinematic and beautiful if shot properly! We try to make the best work possible for our clients so that the films can be enjoyed for years to come (not just be part of a trend).

We truly love multi-cultural weddings! Seeing two cultures come together with families from totally different background, both sharing different traditions to become one big family is always so heartwarmingly beautiful!

We also love LGBTQ+ celebrations – one specifically meaningful wedding we shot was the day that the same-sex marriages were legalized in the US in 2015. It was especially poignant to be filming a queer wedding on that very day!

For elopements we start at $3500, full weddings start at $7500. Our rates are based on the high cost of film, our 16 years of experience and our dedication to producing excellent 5-star work for our clients.

We’ve been in the business for a long time, and with that kind of experience, dedication to creating excellent films for our clients and receiving nothing but great reviews, we feel our rates are justified. We also capture weddings exclusively on super 8 film which is not cheap but worth it!

You blended right into the party.
You have the coolest vintage cameras.
You were such a calming, chill presence.
You had so much fun with my uncle and grandma on the dance floor.
We didn’t even know you were there!
You made us the most important film we’ll ever see.
You have an amazing eye for detail and nuance.
You captured every amazing emotion.

Remember that it’s about the love between the two of you and gathering your favorite people in one place for a moment in time. The rest are just small details and if something goes wrong, don’t dwell on it – those little things don’t really matter. But the love between the couple and their friends and families does!

Our dream couples are:
Are wildly in love.
Very relaxed but super fun.
Into great design and cool aesthetics.
Love travel, food, good cinema, great music.
Dance like no one is watching.
Have pets as part of the family.
Appreciate and treat their vendors well.

“It’s the most important film we’ll ever see” – coming from an Academy award winner!

They are simply the BEST! Hire them!

Yes, our contracts are gender neutral.

How did you get started as a wedding pro?

This journey started after I dusted off my super 8 camera from film school to shoot a dear friend’s wedding back in 2007. It was such a thrill to capture all of the emotions of the day and the results were beyond amazing. I had a feeling other couples would love it too, the business was born.

Describe your aesthetic in three words that have nothing to do with weddings.

Warm retro nostalgic

What's your favorite wedding tradition and why?

I love the jewish hora! It’s chaotic and sweaty and just oh so fun every time!

What wedding tradition or trend do you wish would die and never come back?

Ribbons tied around chairs. I still see it in Europe. CRING!

Have you planned your own wedding? How did it change how you work?

Yes! I see family dynamics and high running emotions so differently now. I was a ball of tears my whole wedding weekend – just so happy and overwhelmed the whole time. IT’S A LOT and I can totally understand why couples feel pressures. I think I can be a really calming presence having gone through it myself.

What do you wish couples knew about you before they reached out?

I wish couples understood that I (Megan) live in France. I’m the owner and creative director of the company and handle all of editing, client correspondence, and I manage a small team in NYC. I travel to the US for a few weddings a year but I’m usually filming in Europe while my team handles the US weddings.

How do your couples describe you when they're recommending you to friends?

They say I’m super chill but also very fun. I can bring a calming presence (you might not even know I’m around) but I will also be your cheerleader if emotions take over. They also say I have a great eye and know just when to capture the right moments.

How long have you been in the biz?

16 years and counting!
