Our wedding theme was Dungeons & Dragons! It's not just a game to us, it's a lifestyle. I have been playing since I was 12 — my dad Dungeon Mastered a group for me and my best girlfriends. Later, I met my husband through D&D. I have developed the most amazing friendships and family relationships through D&D and it only made sense to make it our wedding theme. DIY for days at this adorable vintage comic book wedding
Zach has always been a lover of comic books, and as long as we have been together (seven years!) we've always known that we wanted to have a comic book themed-wedding. I am a huge lover of vintage style, so it made sense to merge the two into a huge party of comic book awesomeness. Having a vintage aesthetic also helped to ensure that our decorations wouldn't be too child-like (we definitely had to tow a fine line with that!) and give our day an old-fashioned feel.
When a rustic forest wedding met red, black, and metal
When we got engaged, we knew we didn't want a typical wedding. Instead, we wanted to incorporate some of the wonderful things we enjoy together into an expression of our love. We picked black and burgundy as our colors to match our dark aesthetic. For my bridal look, I wanted to go high drama. I ditched the white dress and found an asymmetrical wine-colored dress and, with my bridesmaid Haley, built a one-of-a-kind elk antler headdress so I could look like a pagan forest goddess.

As practicing pagans, we also incorporated many elements of our spirituality, such as tarot readers at the reception and a Samhain memorial altar. Harry Potter has been interwoven into our relationship for 20 years, so we had subtle hints of our love for the series in our decor (side note: we got engaged at and shot our engagement photos at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter). We made our reception personal by including all the things we love: coffee, beer, tattoos, and tarot!
