How to make (and wield!) your own sword bouquet
A few days ago, I had an idea for the bridesmaids’ bouquets to have a sword hilt for a handle.I just finished the first one, version 1.0, and there are some things I want to tweak and change. But for the most part, this is it! Now, let me show you how I made it so that you too can wield your flowers on your special day.
Neil & Amanda’s Renaissance fire and glitter handfasting
These nerdy lovers were seasoned Ren faire folk, so throwing a weekend-long Renaissance celebration complete with a bonfire, live music, hog roast, and fire spinners was a no-brainer. Add in some epic, last-minute garb creation, jewel-toned lanterns, and rings delivered VIA HAWK, and you’ll be loving the historical life. Turkey legs, jousts, games, wench-y corsets, and a golden rose ceremony: sounds like a Renaissance festival wedding for the ages. And then add in the blessing from the king and queen, the adorable mini-chapel, and the tree-climbing uncle-with-a-camera, and you’ve got a wedding that’ll melt any garb-wearing Renny around.
Holly & Fernando’s teeny tiny Harry Potter renaissance festival wedding
Only a few weeks to prepare, only room for 12 guests… how can they make this work?! Oh, they so did. The small guest list totally fit this introverted couple’s preferences, and the intimate space amid the hustle and bustle of a renaissance fest was fabulously adorable. Add in some Harry Potter colors (Ravenclaws represent!), an “Always” necklace, and “Mischief Managed” rings, and you’ve got the recipe to brew up a love potion for us all.
Make a “huzzah!” banner for your wedding
Amber and Marshall had a fabulous Renaissance-themed wedding. So seriously fabulous that I hope we get to feature them in a bride profile soon. But one of my favorite details that they added to our Offbeat Bride Flickr pool is their “huzzah” banner.
