A curious masquerade wedding of oddities and glamour
The theme started out as just “masquerade,” as I’ve always wanted to have or attend a masquerade ball, but as we began to brainstorm ideas, we started working bits of ourselves into the details. My husband and I have a large collection of antiques and oddities, and we ended up incorporating different pieces from our home into each of the centerpieces and the decor. Thus, “The Curious Masquerade” was born. Maps, medical models, scientific instruments, antique candelabras, and other various things all got (carefully!) flora-fied and bedecked.
The Art Nouveau wedding: LEGO meets geek meets Southern hospitality
When Art Nouveau meets big time nerdery, it can only mean one thing: a gorgeous, LEGO-infused, DIYed wedding that spoils us with awesomeness. Don’t miss the two homemade cakes, the Lord of the Rings-esque Art Nouveau decor, and the awesome send-off. OH, and you’ll never guess what happened when the bride’s dad wasn’t there when it was time to walk down the aisle!
Books, maracas, and the best hair ever: this colorful ranch wedding WINS
Brianne and German’s had a seriously swoon-inducing wedding with touches of Disney and nods to the groom’s Mexican heritage. Held at Leo Carrillo Ranch in Carlsbad, near San Diego, they rocked bold color (including the bride’s FAB red hair), wild florals, vintage-style table decor, literature theme details, and perfect maraca favors for the best send-off sounds ever. This one is just eye candy all over the place and you don’t want to miss it.
FALL for this autumn wedding with a Nordic ceremony, axe-throwing, and camping
Jessie and Adam’s fall wedding had lots of traditions and symbolism in the Nordic ceremony. The pair and their wedding party carried logs with rune symbols which were burned ceremonially. Burning incense and herbs were sprinkled around the perimeter ceremony site. Adam even hand-built the GORGEOUS ceremony arch structure which had carved Nordic dragons. The night ended with celebrating, ax-throwing, and camping, and we can’t get enough. Just wait until you see the bride’s surprise colored dress underlay, the pumpkin details, and the sheet music and burlap non-floral bouquet.
This California circus wedding is the greatest show on Earth
Danielle and John’s San Francisco, California circus-themed wedding included a dance down the aisle, magic tricks by the Ringmaster officiant, ice cream, a food truck, stilt walkers, dancing, and one seriously killer venue, the San Francisco Institute of Possibilities. It’s a wild ride of a wedding that will either leave you breathless or breathing heavy from love.
A Friday the 13th barn wedding with coffee, skulls, and floral prints
This wedding combines so many disparate things into one cohesive blend of awesomeness. It’s a Friday the 13th barn wedding featuring a gorgeous rose-printed skirt, lots of creepy and elegant skull decor (for Friday the 13th, natch!), Jason masks, a Nightmare Before Christmas cake topper, pop culture Mad Libs, and a lovely outdoor ceremony. Don’t miss the killer coffee truck with accompanying lovey-dovey latte art!
