Use giant word balloons as a non-floral backdrop
When you’re as adorable as Cat and Babs are, proclaiming your names to the heavens with giant word balloons seems perfectly acceptable and magical. If you too need a cool and cheaper-than-flowers backdrop/decor for your ceremony or reception, maybe huge ass balloon letters are your solution. They’re cheap and awesome, and here are a few we like…
Serve up flavored popcorn favors to your guests (with recipes!)
Nidia and Jamal had tons of things going for their sweet Indiana wedding, but we couldn’t stop drooling over their many flavors of popcorn favors (among a few favors!) they served to their guests. They had Chicago Mix (a Chicago staple of cheddar cheese and caramel mix), Asian BBQ, and Bombay Seasoning. I totally want all of those flavors right now.
You could translate this idea to the reception, cocktail hour, or even before the ceremony for mid-tears noshing.
Collect messages in a bottle as your guest book
Elizabeth and Steve’s old school Nintendo wedding featured Marios and Luigis and Thwomps and Fire Flowers galore. One tiny detail that we especially loved was their message in a bottle guest book. They offered theme-appropriate colored Post-Its, pens, and small bottles so that guests could write them a note for the future. I guess being married is a little like being on an island sometimes. You’ve got to get advice from off shore sometimes.
Serve your guests from a traveling bar cart
Whether you’re serving champagne, wine, local beers, a signature cocktail, or going for mocktails at a dry wedding, rolling around a traveling bar cart is a pretty rad way to serve the booze. Instead of setting up a bar, have someone go from table to table serving up custom drinks.
