We are a queer interfaith clergy couple. Our wedding party consisted of a spiritual and supportive “Femme Crew” and “Butch Crew.” We call ourselves TEAM UNICORN because we love rainbows and sparkles and magic and don’t subscribe to socially constructed ideas of gender. We celebrated our wedding at a stunning camp site in North Georgia all weekend with a Shabbat prayer service, a 12-step recovery meeting, swimming and boating options, hikes to waterfalls, a bonfire, and yoga on the dock.

This minimalist Philly wedding proves that simple is CHIC
We decided to do an old school Champagne and Cake reception immediately following the wedding in the same space, the Philadelphia Wedding Chapel. The chapel is a decorated, NY-style loft space and you simply show up. We hired musicians on our own as live music was not included. The wedding and reception was ninety minutes total at 3:00pm. Only twenty-six people were in attendance.

Dora and Joel were married in Chicago. Our geekdom runs deep and we're known to throw themed parties, so settling on a single fandom felt forced for an event of this magnitude. Instead, we decided to put a little bit of everything we love together for a truly unique experience. For a while, though, nothing fit together. Plus, we were annoyed by traditions that felt were “expected.” So, we identified what really mattered: bringing the people we love together and staying true to ourselves.
