What Joss Whedon & Army wives can teach you about being a future military spouse
My fellow Army Wives, Echo and Kilo (who helped write this post) and I, are political progressives, feminists, and romantically involved with soldiers in the US Army. It’s a crazy effing life. One might even say round pegs for the square hole of the US Armed Forces. We are absolutely committed to telling it like it is as professional women with complicated sexualities, careers, aspirations, non-traditional religious affiliations, and cultural clashes with the military… as well as the love, support, and strength we draw from our significant others, ourselves, and our close and ever evolving friendships. And yeah, we had a couple o’ gaps in our zeitgeist that we hope we can help you with.
Jess & Pete’s glam horror and zombie wedding
We’re falling into the so-excited-it’s-almost-fall trap hardcore. But that’s okay: trap us in your cool embrace and crunchy leaves, fall! Here’s a little horror and zombies pre-Halloween preview to whet your appetite for the season. The dessert bar alone is to die for… think anatomical hearts, zombie mousse graves, and a cake with a giant bloody bite out of it. It’s ghoulishly delicious!
Monica & Clint’s literary garden wedding
This pair had a big surprise just two weeks after getting engaged: the groom was being deployed. And so started the long-distance planning (Florida to Ohio) with a deployed groom to boot! But you’d never know it from the looks of this garden wedding with gorgeous views, literary details, and a superhero ring bearer.
Jessica & Michael’s tiny Vegas military wedding
This pair chose a sleek Las Vegas hotel suite as the venue for their intimate wedding. Some Portal and Mass Effect details, a super sexy burgundy gown, and even a surprise tuxedo shirt were some of the awesome details that made this wedding all their own. Plus, you’ll love the bride’s favorite moment (spoiler: it’s before the wedding!).
