Kristine & Doug’s 12th Day of Christmas outdoor winter wedding
It’s the week of Christmas and we’re immersing ourselves in ornament bouquets, holly-covered cake toppers, luxe green capes, and snow-covered weddings in Canada… just like this one! These two may be brave for having an outdoor ceremony in January, but it was the perfect opportunity to pull all the stops with hand-crocheted scarves and hats for the bridesmaids and bundled a capella serenades.
A Wes Anderson-themed Thanksgiving wedding
These two pulled in their family and friends to help out: it turns out they’re related to a minister, a florist, and the pair of photographer-videographer-DJs that make up Post & Beam Co. The love these guys have for nature is clear — there are so many animal and plant touches. These guys are also big-time Wes Anderson fans, and used a bit of the filmmaker’s style — especially with references to Fantastic Mr. Fox.
Jennifer & Brian’s vintage Halloween-infused October wedding
The bouquets were made from pages of Edgar Allan Poe, Stephen King, and Red Riding Hood. The cake topper was a miniature zombie family. The place cards were actual TOE TAGS! And then… in classic horror movie style, all the lights went out during the reception! It wasn’t intentional, but that is one way to spook out your guests at a Halloween wedding. Just wait until you see what movie prop they used as a guest book!
A sweet city hall wedding with a dash of cultural context
It’s May Day, you guys, or International Workers Day, which celebrates the labor movement. So it’s mighty appropriate that the Occupy Movement makes a cameo in Kate and Yong’s city hall wedding in Philadelphia. Also likely to inspire the drools: a hot pink dress, a dapper groom with match-y tie, and a sweet pooch companion (Ralphie!) for the photo shoot.
Mini flags, mustaches, and pinwheels: we’re celebrating “Something on a stick day”
The entire Offbeat Empire is celebrating Something on a Stick Day today, so we’re celebrating all things… on sticks. For Offbeat Bride, that means mini flags, mustaches, ribbon wands, pie markers, and lollipops. You’ll also want to check over at Offbeat Home & Life and Offbeat Families to see what they have going on. Let’s stick the landing, stick it to the man, and stick together as we overuse puns and peruse the stuff-on-a-stick archives.
Jaime & Thomas’ Groundhog Day ski lodge wedding
Trying to remember your wedding day is a great idea, but trying to relive it like in Groundhog Day — now that’s an epic goal. That, plus lots more movie references abounded (including a Harold and Kumar reading!) And wait until you see what activity was planned for post-ceremony fun. Here’s one hint: they’re surrounded by snow.
