How to make antiqued paper for your historical or fantasy wedding
We’re getting married next month and having a pirate-themed wedding. Any bits of paper we needed (whether invitations, signs, or treasure-hunt clues) I decided to make look old and pirate-y.
This technique would also be great for medieval, historical, steampunk, fantasy, or Victorian themes. Some of you may have done something like this at school, but this is such a simple yet effective bit of DIY I just had to share it!
Travel among fictitious worlds at this steampunk engagement shoot
Karina and Colin’s wedding theme is going to be traveling among fictitious worlds — between movies and books and games. They’ll be featuring music from movie and video game scores, Postmodern Jukebox, and every table will have a different world theme. Since they’re part of their local steampunk community, it seemed natural to incorporate that into their engagement photos with outfits from some of our favorite steampunk vendors.
Stefanie & Zach’s outdoor outlaw bluegrass mountain wedding
“Reception and trial to follow.” This pair had an outdoor, outlaw, and Bluegrass-themed wedding at The Hamill House in Georgetown, Colorado. There were lawn games, historical garb (including a blue gown made by Victorian Choice), and a gorgeous mountain backdrop.
Laura & Jason’s tattooed and belly-dancing historical wedding
When the bride and her sister make eight hardcore Victorian-inspired outfits for the wedding, you know this is serious-business history love. Add in the Victorian dancing, regimental band, and amazing belly dance and drum performance, and you’ve got a recipe for an outstanding wedding celebrating a gorgeous family home and era. Wait until you hear what the bride did with her antique ring!
Emilia & Ryan’s Victorian garden party wedding
The historic 1800s house with wrap-around porch, the custom-made Victorian-style dress, the handmade touches… this is a wedding to just sink into like a lavender-scented bath. Tie on your corset and get into the historical vibe with this fabulous Victorian-themed garden party.
Ann & Eric’s Detroit lovefest with old timey revelry
These two love them some old timey fun and brought it ALL to their wedding in the bride’s hometown of Detroit. She also totally schooled her Chicago pals in all things awesome in Detroit: the Henry Ford museum complex, awesome food (including Coney dogs!), and goodie bags filled with local snacks and beers. Get on your penny-farthing and come take a peek!
