Keep your wedding cake forever (no freezer necessary) with Aberrant Ornaments

Remember earlier this week when I wondered how anyone could eat a cake this awesome? Because after you eat your amazingly prepared, eye-popping, fantastically personalized wedding cake it’s just GONE! That’s why I’m super-stoked about our sponsor Aberrant Ornaments. Their goal is to help couples keep the memory of their wedding cake alive for a lifetime — no freezing necessary.

Should I open and use these wedding gifts before my wedding?

We received our first registry gift (yay!) and the wedding is now two months away (eep!). The gift came wrapped, so we do not know exactly what it is, and we do know that the senders will not be able to attend the wedding. Is it okay to open the gift now, so we can write a thank-you note and send it out ASAP, or do we wait until the wedding to open it and send a thank-you? If we do open the gift early, is it bad form to start using it?

Is it okay to go off-registry for my friends’ wedding gift?

One of my friends is getting married in about a month, and I checked out her registry to see what kinds of things she and her fiancé need to start their new life together. And their registry is SO BORING! This couple is creative, and funny, and bizarre, and amazing, and NOTHING on the registry reflects that. Is it okay to assume that they just when scanner-gun happy and that it’s okay for me to save them from themselves?

What if someone brings a gift to my “No gifts please” bridal shower?

A friend is throwing me a bridal shower which will include family members and friends. I’ve very specifically asked for a “no gifts please” announcement in the bridal shower invite, but reliable sources have indicated that at least a few family members might end up bringing a gift anyway.

If that happens, no biggie, but I’m wondering if I need to open those gifts at the shower or is okay to wait until after the shower?
