How did I just discover these vintage-y wedding dresses under $200!?
Ok, why didn’t someone tell me about Ruche.com sooner?! For those of you who are leaning towards the vintage-y/classic end of the wedding aesthetics spectrum (as opposed to the rainbow carnival freakout or zombie-chic), this place is your new favorite website. Some of their stuff reminds me of BHLDN’s styling, but without the $128 buckets and other overpriced pomp. Their bridal lookbooks? TO DIE FOR. They’re like vintage-tinged fever dreams that I want to crawl into and pretend I’m more understated and chic than I actually am.
Is this bridal enough?: The great WHITE lie
I am feeling the pressure to “give in” to a gown in the white family, like ivory or eggshell. Few people are immediately dismissive of a non-white dress, but over time they begin saying things like, “How will we know who the bride is?” and, “You will look like you’re going to prom!” and everything in between. It’s started to seep into the more doubtful and anxious parts of me and I start to wonder — “is this BRIDAL enough?”
What’s to love about BHLDN and Vera Wang at David’s Bridal
The San Francisco Chronicle interviewed me recently about the nontraditional perspective on two new wedding dress lines: Anthropologie’s new BHLDN dresses and the Vera Wang designs at David’s Bridal.
Jazmin’s muy caliente, wedding dress, inspired by a pop surrealism artist
Jazmin found herself between a rock and a hard place when dress shopping. She needed a light weight dress (she got married in Mexico) and something affordable. When she didn’t have any luck buying one she decided the next best option was to make it herself!
