How to paint your wedding flats on the cheap and nerdy
I really wanted to keep in the nerdy wedding vibe going with my shoe choice, so I began searching for Doctor Who or Star Wars shoes that were cute and not more than $50. Yeah, I know… I’m dreaming. So instead I bought a pair of shoes from Payless and decided to paint them. Here’s my step-by-step guide to painting my shoes…
JC & Allen’s Whovian Wonderland wedding
A little Alice in Wonderland, a smidge of Doctor Who, and two geeky kids in the Philippines tie the knot, geek-style. With a pink princess gown, little Alices and Ums running around, and some crafty projects, there was no way this wasn’t going to be fun. Not even a typhoon warning was stopping it. Oh, and wait until you hear about the family’s first dance starring an Xbox!
Sarah & Nathaniel’s “A Love For All Of Time and Space” wedding
A life-size TARDIS, a TARDIS cake, a Doctor Who officiant, and loads of sci-fi details… you space-theme lovers are in for a treat. Add in the convertible gold dress, the DIYed heart backdrop, and the heart-melting father/daughter waltz, and you’ll see how sweet sci-fi can be. Oh, and this bride has some SERIOUSLY good anecdotes for taking on too much and asking for help.
Plants vs. Zombies and tons of TARDIS blue: a sunny North Carolina wedding
Erika and Emmanuel chose a Raleigh, North Carolina Moroccan restaurant called Babylon for their ceremony and reception spot. The venue’s brightly colored interior and exterior definitely complemented the fun vibe of the day! Wedding decor included wedding flags decorated with hearts and flags that read “Yay” and “Huzzah,” and Erika and Emmanuel carried their own “Mr. and Mrs. Emmerika” flags.
