A hardcore band nerd married a bookworm who doesn’t know how to play a kazoo properly, but damned if they didn’t totally celebrate their shared loves of science fiction, games, music, and all things ridiculous. With a modest budget, they had a wedding that had something for everyone: board games, frisbee, a photo booth, dancing, booze, and lots and lots of BBQ.
Anais & Ira’s low-key handmade crafty wedding
One way to bond over the wedding is to get everyone and their mother involved in the tiny details. That’s exactly what this couple did, and it made planning a little more sane than it could have been. With paper and knitted flowers, an all-vegan-plus-pork menu, and lots of woodsy and crafty details, you know a lot of heart (and probably sweat) went into this wedding. Oh, and don’t forget to pour one out for the missing home-brewed beer that could have been.
A sunny picnic wedding with lawn games and love
Carly Bish sent over this stunning, sun-soaked picnic wedding and we ate it up. But when we found out that it was held at her childhood home, we knew it was really special to her. See, Carly’s brother married Kristin. Kristin’s sister, Chaitra (the bride), met and married one of Carly’s brother’s best friends since childhood, Ryan (the groom). So their meeting (and loving) was inevitable. Sweet story aside, let’s get on to the deets: lots of DIY decor, handmade fascinators, picnic blankets as reception tables, lawn games, ribbon wands (perfect for the nearby kitteh)… it’s your own virtual vacation.
Katherine & James’ barefoot eco-friendly forest wedding
This week we’re letting our hair down and getting back to nature in the wild, wild outdoors! Today we’ve got a barefoot couple in the forests of Piccadilly with rainbows, a teepee, and one very fun Kombi. They managed to make it all happen while compromising with a religious family, coaxing a van into carrying a clown car-load, and dealing with a very naughty bird at the ceremony.
