Floating candles, cloaks, & a patronus cake at this mystical Harry Potter-inspired wedding inspiration
When I imagine all the things I’d want to see in a Harry Potter-inspired wedding inspiration shoot, I imagine floating candles from the Great Hall, quotes from the books and films, magical cloaks (or at least magical-looking!), tiny details like horcruxes and snitches, a gorgeous themed cake… and oh wait. That’s what THIS shoot is all about!
Bookworms and gamer girls marry in style in New York
We wanted the wedding to have vintage/library feel. Our escort cards were library due date cards and the centerpieces were books on the bottom with a lamp on top from IKEA. We came up with the decoration for everything and kept the tables as exposed woods to bring the vintage feel out — the venue sold itself! We placed books on the fireplace mantle and above all, since our wedding was also on Pride Day for NYC, we provided our guests with pride ribbons to wear upon arrival.
A Biltmore Estate library-inspired wedding with lots of BATMAN
Mallory and William have made it a tradition to visit The Biltmore Estate in Asheville, N.C., each Christmas, enjoying the decorations and ambiance a few hours away from their home of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Last year, they went to the Christmas tree in front of the mansion, and William proposed…
This Liverpool Harry Potter wedding had a black wedding dress, 8-foot marauders map, & wand duel
Jenny and Liam are major Potterphiles and wanted to inject some Harry Potter magic into their Liverpool, UK wedding. Jenny in particular was super resourceful during planning. She found her gorgeous black gown at a prom dress store and sourced tons of their vendors through Facebook, Etsy, and small businesses. Plus, there was a ton of DIY (with no real magic to help!) including handmade wand favors and loads of house colors and Hogwarts details.
Don’t miss their ultra magical place setting map — an 8-foot long Marauder’s Map, painstakingly hand-drawn by a close frien
Rainbow dresses and wedding pups at this “literature in miniature” wedding
We both love literature, miniatures, dogs, and film, so most of the wedding had some aspect of those themes included. We made a bookcase arch which was basically the only ceremony decor in addition to what was already in the beautiful venue. I made all the bridesmaids dresses in different jewel tones. I love retro style clothing and color and I couldn't find what I was looking for in the stores, so I made them myself!
These two shy partners rocked their vintage bibliophile Stardust wedding
I wanted my wedding to have a classic old Hollywood style. Since we are both bibliophiles who bonded over a love of the stars and Neil Gaiman, we picked Stardust as our inspiration. I was inspired by the images of paper moon photo booths, which fit perfectly with the vintage and astronomical themes that we wanted. I'm also a burlesque dancer who can't image a wedding without glitter.
