When you dream about eloping in the Swiss Alps, you probably imagine sweeping views, epic castles, and a little bit of wild weather magic. For Nami (she/her) and Hari (he/him), their two-day elopement across Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, and Lac Léman (Geneva) delivered all that and more… plus a wildcard moment no one saw coming.
This isn't just a story about wedding photos though! It's a masterclass in embracing adventure, honoring heritage, and letting your love story lead the way, even when plans get washed out by Alpine rainstorms.

Day One: Waterfalls, Gondolas, and Muddy Joy in Grindelwald
Nami and Hari kicked off their adventure in traditional Indian attire: Nami wearing a luminous cream and gold lehenga from Moornii, and Hari in a sherwani from Pernia’s Popup Shop. Their plan? Gondola rides, majestic Swiss waterfalls, and pure mountain vibes.

…but the Swiss Alps had other ideas. Late-season storms closed the gondolas and flooded trails. No problem: they pivoted, scrambled up slick trails with huge grins, and turned rain-soaked chaos into laughter-filled magic.

One photo shows Nami's shawl billowing against a moody mist while Hari balances carefully on the rocky trail. Their energy was unmistakable: messy, joyful, present.

Later, with henna from Henna by Pallavi staining Nami’s hands, they stood in the spray of waterfalls, soaking in the storm as part of the experience… not something to survive, but something to celebrate!

Day Two: From Hot Air Balloons to Hidden Fairytale Castles

The original plan for Day Two involved a sunrise hot air balloon ceremony… but May in Switzerland laughed in their faces. With lakeside plans stormed out, they trusted their photographer, Sam Starns, to find a secret Plan C: a quiet, storybook château perched by Lac Léman.
For this second day, they swapped into modern fits that still honored their roots: Hari sharp in a tailored suit from Indochino, and Nami radiant in a show-stopping red Tarun Tahiliani gown (@taruntahiliani) that blazed against the lakeshore blues.

And then, the moment no one will ever forget.
Hari is red-green colorblind, a condition that affects about 1 in 12 men. For people with this kind of color blindness, reds and greens can blur together, looking muddy or dull. It’s not about seeing in black and white; it's about missing the vividness that most of us take for granted: the electric greens of grass, the fiery reds of a sunset (or a wedding dress).
For their lakeside ceremony, Nami had something extraordinary planned.

After their portraits at the hidden château, with storm clouds parting just enough to reveal the lush green hills, she handed Hari a small box. Inside were Enchroma glasses: special lenses designed to help people with color blindness see a broader spectrum of color.
When Hari slid the glasses on, time seemed to stop.

For the first time, he could truly see the saturated greens of the Swiss landscape… and the brilliant, heart-stopping red of Nami's gown. His expression says it all: wonder, awe, the kind of joy that cracks something open inside you.

In the photos, you can almost feel the moment hit… Hari’s hands trembling slightly as he looks around, Nami beaming with a mix of pride and love. There were no grand speeches, no fancy ceremonies… just raw, powerful presence.
Everyone was crying. This wasn’t just about seeing color. It was about being seen — fully, vividly, beautifully.

Their final portraits feel like something straight out of The Little Mermaid: a red dress swirling over misty stones, a lake shining turquoise, a castle standing sentinel in the distance. It’s pure storybook romance, just with more boots, mud, and Metallica fandom. (Nami and Hari even capped off their European adventure with a Metallica show in Paris!)

Nami and Hari's elopement reminds us: you can honor your heritage, embrace wildness, and write your own damn fairytale — storm clouds and all.
