We all may still be reeling from the end of Game of Thrones, whether satisfied with the various plot lines or ready to revolt. Either way, there's one character I stanned as a bad-ass leader with killer style: Sansa Stark. I'll avoid spoilers, of course, but did want to share this glorious fashion shoot featuring another fierce redhead who looks amazing in a long gown with a bit of raven flair.
We spoke with skilled dress designer Inge of Wardrobe by Dulcinea, to see what inspired this look:
The black Raven cloak by Offbeat Style Shop was inspired by strong, powerful women, back from the ancient times and strongholds were being built. Instead of fur on one's shoulders, it features feathers wrapped around and draping down, merging with sheer English tulle, all the way to the floor and into a sweeping train.
The soft Victoria dress was designed and created to offset the black cloak — it's intention is to be very feminine, delicate, and nude, like bare skin underneath armor. The statement sleeves feature intricate floral embroidery and a four-strand braided belt is that one detail that resonates with the inspiration timeline of the cape. They are very different, but work together.
We named the shoot ‘Queen in the North,' as we were shooting this in the middle of the last season of Game of Thrones, an iconic TV show that has been in our lives for the last decade, and our model has gorgeous red hair. Our location happened to be ruins of a burned down lacquer factory — a piece of modern world, merged with history and fantasy-inspired clothes and accessories. A strong, bold, brave bride in the ashes of the past, in the wind that affects nothing else but the cloak. A queen.
She definitely looks like a queen, both battle hardened and soft and regal. When the night is long and full of terrors, remember this look and know that you can handle it with panache. Let's see it in all its glory…
