OBT member Stella hand made her wedding invitations and added this beautiful pop-up lotus detail which is freaking AWESOME!
Here it is in all its glory…
Pretty cool, right!? I've never thought of adding a pop-up element to wedding invites before so these just got me all excited. Stella was also kind enough to include a link to a template for the pop-up flower and a ton of other nifty pop-up templates for all sorts of occasions. (I wish we had used the pop-up shark for our invites now!)
We are also having a pop-up invitation! Ours have a pop-up proscenium arch with a little fabric curtain.
Holy Cannoli! That’s a great idea! Pop-ups are so fun, they remind me of being a kid 🙂
I received one of these invites and I can assure you all the real object is WAY cuter than any picture can get across!!
I love how much effort Stella has gone to making her beautiful pop-ups, now I can’t wait for the wedding!!
*Blushes* Naaaw, thanks Queen of Radtown!
One word: AWESOME! Who wouldn’t love getting a pop-up wedding invitation?!
amazing job stella!
Cheers JE$S! I really enjoy typing the dollar sign in your name! lol
My eyes popped out when I opened OOB and this was at the top! I love it, it looks great!
OMG. I am. SO. Doing this. Thanks so much! I’m obsessed with lotuses.
Thanks ladies! Lotuses are the best, I’m making a heap of origami lotuses for wedding decorations, favors & centrepieces! I’m also trying to grow some in a little pond in my yard……its easier to make ’em out of paper!
I really want pop up invitations but can’t find anything suitable for our wedding in templates. If anyone sees any tree pop ups, or lanterns.. please let me know!!
Hi Fate! I had a quick look through some templates on the net, I couldn’t find a tree (except for Christmas trees
http://bucarotechelp.com/expressions/93010201.asp) or lantern pop-op template, but I did find a video that shows you how to make a pop-up card with any image you like!
http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to-make-pop-up-card-for-any-occassion-317206/
I didn’t get to watch the full vid (my internet is slow), but I’m sure some experimentation with the tute will get you close what you want..
I reckon you local library might have some books on the subject as well 🙂
Happy Popping!
Woah, what a coincidence! I just made a card using the same template a few days ago (for a family member’s birthday). It’s super-easy and really pretty. If you look up “pop-up card” on WikiHow there are a bunch more, too.
Awesome! How funny 🙂
I was a little intimidated as the template had like 30 steps, but your right it is super easy.
I’m going to have a look on Wikihow right now!
great touch!
This is so cute! We’re loving it.
I love what you did! The colour looks terrific too. We have a popup invitation which we artwork to suit the colour and theme of the day, I haven’t seen one like this though – well done.
I know this post is 3 years old now, but I really love this idea. I’m a bit disappointed the links are broken.
