They powered through the secrecy and it was all worth it when they stood touching foreheads overlooking a craggy and fabulous beach as a married couple. Oh, and you’ll never guess what Tolkien-esque wizardry went into their wedding rings!
Alexa & Wale’s vibrant Nigerian engagement and minimalist Unitarian nerdfest
You may recognize this pair from Alexa’s Nigerian engagement ceremony bridentity crisis, and we just had to see how it all turned out. It’s a two-ceremony mega-mash of Nigerian and American culture including handmade geles (Nigerian head wraps), geeky details, a sweet candle ceremony, and some flubbed vows that are too funny to miss.
A ball field wedding with old-time charm
This wedding reminds me of small town festivals and parades with sparklers. Robyn and Mick are both hardcore kickball players, so they decided to hold their ceremony on the kickball field itself, with a tented reception at Mick’s parents’ house in Lawrence, KS. This is one of those weddings where some family drama has a silver lining and a a happy alternative ending. It also has lots of geektastic references to Doctor Who and Tolkien, of which I totally approve. It’s obvious that these two have an awesome community of love helping them create and celebrate.
