Thanks to our sponsor Set Ready Garment Bags for presenting this week's posts on Offbeat Bride. We love 'em, and think you will, too…
Rachel has a PhD in neuroscience but makes her living as an abstract artist. She and partner Deryck wanted a natural, woodsy feel to their wedding and included board games like Cards Against Humanity. They also rocked their favorite brunch food like chicken and waffles and mimosas.
But my favorite part of the day was their favors. Each guest could take an original piece of abstract art created by the pair! Now that's a favor to cherish. This feels like a spin on the guest book idea of having your guests create mini pieces of art for you to keep.
Rachel explained a little more about it:
For our wedding favors last year, we alternated painting layers on thirty 6″x 6″ canvases. A painting was considered done when we both agreed that it was done. It was a lot of fun and also full of frustration as we painted over each other's layers and learned to let go for the sake of compromise. In the end it was an amazing project.
So: cool project AND collaborative relationship growth opportunity.? Hell yes! Want to see some of the paintings? Let's do it…
Holy smokes, that’s a cool idea! And I really want that painting with the triplets of gold circles…
That is such an amazing idea! Plus, what a cute couple!
