Location & date of wedding: Innisfil, Ontario, Canada — July 4, 2009

What made our wedding offbeat: We had a late afternoon wedding at my parents' house. The ceremony was in front of my mom's pond and we rented a tent for their back yard. The tent was decorated with black and white fabrics.

We had different types of wrought iron centerpieces with white candles that I collected from local thrift stores over my last year of planning. One of my favourite parts of the decor was the gargoyles in front of the head table.

Instead of favors, we had a candy bar with cute little take out boxes.

I had a black and white cupcake tree, and they tasted freaking amazingly good.

Each table number had a different quote about love on it. Our guest book table consisted of a box with our photo on it and sheets of plain paper. We invited our guests to write a little something down whether it be best wishes or advice for us. I will use these in a scrapbook with all our wedding photos.

All our flowers were out of my mom's garden and she made the bridesmaids' bouquets.

I didn't spend a bunch of money on our wedding: all in all it was under six grand for over 200 guest, including rentals.

Our biggest challenge: The little things that went wrong were:

• The tent was supposed to be up on Tuesday, but, due to bad weather, they didn’'t get it up until Friday. This gave us less than ten hours to set up the whole thing.
• Our bartender got lost and was almost two hours late
• The DJ lost my song list and decided it would be ok to choose the songs he thought most important.

My favorite moment: My favorite moment has to be walking down the aisle and seeing my soon-to-be husband's face. He mouthed the words “I love you” and had the biggest smile — the same heart melting smile that I fell in love.

My advice for offbeat brides: We spent months planning for a day that is pretty much over in six hours or less. Have fun, take a breather and absorb as much of it as you can! It goes by way too fast.
