I see a lot of amazing wedding photography that tugs at my heartstrings and makes me belly laugh from great shots. But once in a great while we get to see a portfolio of wedding moments captured by someone who really knows visual art and makes it obvious that they take great care in capturing a wedding day with that eye for detail and magic. That's what I felt when I saw what Ella Sophia was creating for her couples. Stunning images are a given with her, but the eye for meaning and personality is the cherry on top.
Let's meet this Oakland-based photographer to see where she pulls her inspiration and how you'll completely fall in love with the images she creates.
Ella has clients of all sizes, races, and abilities and strives to embrace all diversity in her clients and work. And we LOVE that. Here goal is always to make her clients feel accepted and supported throughout the process of working together. Ella told us, “What I love about offbeat weddings is that each one is unique. It gives me the space to be creative and allows my couples to be themselves.” And when creativity meets the unique quirks of couples, magic is made.
Ella's style is to capture the real emotions of both you and your guests so that you can remember all of those feelings when you revisit the photos time and again. But the trick is, she's not at all intrusive or clichéd in posing. It's all about being creative and easy going all while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism. Oh, and blending right in to snag that perfect shot you didn't even know happened until you see the photos later!

We got to know Ella through her artist's eye and how she takes a creative and skilled approach to capturing the authenticity of weddings. Here's a little from Ella herself…
I create images to empower women, through fine art, authentic boudoir, ethical fashion, and alternative weddings. Originally located in the Hudson Valley and NYC, I'm now based out of Oakland, CA. I'm available for photography throughout the bay area and am always happy to travel for my badass clients.
I studied commercial art, and then followed that with a BFA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts in NYC. I’ve been in both solo and group exhibitions, and have had my images published in fashion, art, and bridal publications throughout the US.
I take a fine art approach to my work, so my image delivery is tactile, with prints that can be touched, turned, and cherished. I offer a full range of professional fine art print products. Because I believe your memories are print worthy.
Because of this love for being able to hold an album and see photos come to life in print, Ella has a great promotion for a free album! Here are the details if you want to take advantage and get a meaningful keepsake you can revisit (or gift!) forever…
