Remember that nerdy Star Wars wedding with a kinky flare we featured a few weeks back? Well our Offbeat couple Kat and Michael tied the knot (or locked the cuffs – whatever you're into!) with some heartfelt, tender personalized wedding vows at their ceremony. Their wedding may have been full of nerdy pop culture references, but their vows were totally unique to them. We can tell they're truly writing their own love story – a Hollywood-worthy one, too! Perhaps the next Princess Leia and Han Solo? Check out these nerdy Star Wars wedding vows below (and try not to tear up, we dare you…).
These vows are the beginning of an iconic love story
Kat's vows:
Ever since I was a little girl, I always dreamed of adventure. I wanted to go to far off places and see everything that the world had to offer. Books and movies with pirates, secret islands, ancient cities, Robin Hood and Neverland were all the subjects of my childhood games and daydreams. I craved a life full of wonder and I was all too anxious to gather it up with greedy arms.
But for many years, I had forgotten that. The weight of reality is heavy, and sometimes the burden of adulthood tends to dull life’s sparkle. At some point, I had decided that being comfortable was enough. I was complaisant with the idea of “it’s okay, I get by.” A far cry from the girl who was ready to take on the whole world in one eager embrace; I had concluded that enough for me was simply… enough.
And then… I met you. You re-kindled that spark within me that believed adventure is always waiting around the corner, should we choose to look for it. You taught me not just to want more, but how to find it. Like Sleeping Beauty, you awakened me from a deep sleep. One where I had lost myself.
We’ve been all over the country together. We’ve met people from all walks of life, gotten lost in cities together, eaten all different types of foods. We’ve seen beautiful places and things, missed our flights, stayed up until the sun rose, rushed to hospitals, sipped champagne in fancy rooftop suites and watched the sun set on the Golden Gate Bridge.

But as amazing as all of those things were, having lived them all, my greatest adventure is you. In part, of course, since those things were all possible because of you. But more so than that, because your voice, your attitude, your presence ignites the spirit of adventure within me. Because every day with you is something new and fun, and wonderful. Even the days that are hard, I know that as long as I have you, there’s always something to look forward to.
Adventure is not easy. The beloved stories of my childhood did not adequately prepare me for the emotional cost of adventure. But it’s a price I will gladly pay over and over again, if it means spending all of those adventures with you. I love you. It astounds me how much more I love you with each passing moment. I vow to go wherever you may lead. And I can’t wait to see where we’re headed together next.
Michael's vows:
Kathleen Rose Ruff, from the moment I met you, I knew there was something different and special about you. You’re quirky. You march to the beat of your own drummer. I’d even go as far as to say that you’re weird. And I mean, you are WEIRD. But that’s one of the million things that I love about you. I love you because of your weirdness, not in spite of it. And you’re probably the kindest, most loving person I’ve ever known.
As I got to know you, I learned about how incredibly talented you were, and in so many ways. And like many artists, you are often misunderstood. But not by me. Never by me. I “get” you. Your humor. Your outlook on the world. I look at you and I understand what you’re thinking and feeling. I see you in ways that nobody else does. And that means that I’m the single luckiest man in the entire universe, because I am the only one who gets to see how truly wonderful and singularly unique you are. And that makes me feel good about me.
I promise to always have your back. I promise to get you back on your feet again when life kicks you in the teeth. I promise to hold you up, support and encourage you in whatever you want to do in life. I promise to laugh at your jokes when you’re happy and be the shoulder you can cry on when you’re sad. I promise to be patient with you when you’re having a freak out. I promise to call you on your BS when needed. I promise to tell you I love you every day, multiple times per day, and give you as many kisses as you can handle.
Kat, I just want to tell you how I’m feeling.
I’ve got to make you understand.
I’m never going to give you up.
Never going to let you down.
Never going to run around and desert you.
Never going to make you cry.
Never going to say goodbye.
Never going to tell a lie and hurt you.And yes. I did just Rickroll you in our wedding vows because I know that you’d appreciate that. I promise to always make you laugh. I promise to love, support and cherish you without condition or measure. For always, and forever.
