You might already have heard of LA-based photographer Jessica Schilling from some wicked weddings we've already featured, like this wild hat-wearing Zelda-themed wedding and this dinosaur topiaries and punk rock shoes museum wedding. They are both worth a look, I promise. Our favorite part of partnering with Jessica is that she's JUST LIKE US: a total Offbeat Bride herself.
Let's learn more about Jessica, her wedding, and her photographic style that she'll apply to your future frame-worthy wedding photos. Oh, and you're in for a sweet deal, too.
Jessica describes her wedding in 2007 as a “DIY, indie, feminist, non-traditional, vegetarian, LGBTQ-friendly day of awesomeness,” which we can totally get behind, of course. Jessica designed her dress, all the centerpieces and bouquets, an iPod playlist, the invitations, and most of the decorations.
So when you want to make sure your photographer will capture all your own sweet details, it helps if they totally understand how much work it takes and how much you want to remember them. Jessica will take to your own offbeat wedding ideas like a fish to water.
In terms of style, Jessica is more of a documentarian, with the goal of blending into the background to capture those rare, unplanned moments. Some of her favorite weddings were the hat-themed wedding (one of our faves, too!), a wedding at a silent movie theatre, and a San Francisco courthouse elopement. Oh, she also loves backyard weddings:
- Check out Molly and Caitlyn at their county park and backyard wedding. Swoon-worthy green dress incoming.
- This Beverly Hills courthouse elopement is giving us a hearts eyes emoji wearing a flower crown hardcore.
Jessica loves engagement sessions since they help her get to know your personalities and help you get comfortable with her and the camera before the wedding day, so check out this special promotion she's doing exclusively for Offbeat Bride readers:
