I know a lot of you have been thrifting for vases and jars to fill with flowers for your DIYed wedding centerpieces. If you don't feel like you want to lug all that glassware back home, you can do what Offbeat Bride Sabrina did and encourage guests to take their favorites home.
All you need to do is inform guests of their nifty favor choices with a framed sign, and everyone's happy — and you have less stuff to carry home.
Thank you so much for this!! I was so worried that people would walk off with some of my favorites and was trying to think of a cute way other than putting 20 vases at the sweetheart table LOL.
What a great idea! Your vase collection is awesome and I’m sure a lot of the guests were thrilled to take home something so unique.
Our thrift-store vases weren’t as cool as yours. We actually sold the vases and decorative glass stones as a “set” on Craigslist after the wedding, using a few of the wedding pics to demonstrate how we had used them. Another engaged couple bought them for about half of what we had spent on it all. I was shocked at how quickly the set sold.
Where did you get that awesome frame?
They’re Ikea Tolsby frames, 2 for a buck. I’ve been thinking about using them for signage, myself. “Here’s the guest book,” “here’s where the cards go,” “please don’t vomit here,” etc etc.
Thank you for this. I collected 60 vases and jars from thrift stores and garage sales for my centerpieces. I WANT my guests to take them home, but a few I’ve become attached to because of their beautiful shapes. This is a great idea to let guests know they can take centerpieces home, but no wait not that one!
I did this at our wedding! I thrifted blue, white and clear glass vases from the moment we got engaged. They looked great at the tables but very few people read the *giant* notes that said, “For You” on the vases or the notes in the programs and now I have a ton of thrifted vases. LOL
