When it comes to wedding planning, we here at Offbeat Wed are all about coloring outside the lines. That’s why we love Christopher and Joshua – they made that metaphor literal with their colorful wedding in the heart of New York City. If you think you’re a New Yorker… Fuggetaboutit! Because this might just be the most New York wedding ever (and we have the pics from The Lovely Lens to prove it). And if you’re looking to spruce up the old black or blue suit for your big day, you’re going to feel absolutely inspired by what this couple wore.

This colorful wedding is a love letter to New York City
START SPREADING THE NEWS… Christopher and Joshua tied the knot! Like any good romantic movie set in the Big Apple, New York is its own character in Christopher and Joshua’s love story, and we love how they honored the city throughout their wedding day. After an intimate ceremony in Central Park, Christopher and Joshua, like true New Yorkers, hopped on the subway to head to one of their favorite Lower East Side eateries, where they enjoyed their first meal as a married couple among friends. And, because they both work in theater, as do many of their guests, they chose to have a Monday wedding, since Monday is the off-day in the theater world. Seriously, can this get any more iconic New York?
The suits at this colorful wedding added a big splash of color to the concrete jungle
It’s hard to find a couple quite as colorful as Christopher and Joshua. Of course we’re not just talking about their clothing (they have stunning personalities, obviously). BUT we're still going to talk about their clothing for a sec because, whew, these two looked bold and beautiful in their colorful suits! In some ways, the suits they each chose couldn’t be more different, and yet, because they’re both so vibrant, they work together and even complement one another. Okay, this didn’t start out as a metaphor for their relationship… but hey, if the suit fits!
Christopher and Joshua used rainbow ribbons to thread the colorful theme through their ceremony – a nod to both pride and the color they add to each other’s lives.
These delightful two humans quickly elaborated on their inspirations and plans, which in summary amounted to: COLOR.
The Lovely Lens
The cake at this colorful wedding was an homage to Jennifer Coolidge
Is it cake, or is it… soup? If you didn’t know that Christopher and Joshua enjoy a shared obsession of all things Jennifer Coolidge, you might take a look at their cake and think that they just really love Campbell’s soup. But if you look a little closer, you’d see that their cake was actually a reference to an adorable quote from Jennifer Coolidge’s character in “Best In Show” that sums up how Christopher and Joshua feel about each other (we’re not crying, you’re crying).
Other subtle Jennifer Coolidge references appeared throughout their big day — check out their masks on their subway ride. And Jennifer Coolidge herself even liked their engagement post on Instagram (she was tagged, obviously)!
We luckily aren’t asking fathers for permission anymore, but when Jennifer Coolidge likes your engagement post, that’s the marriage blessing of all marriage blessings.
We love Jennifer Coolidge too, but with smiles as big as theirs, Christopher and Joshua were definitely still the stars of their wedding day.
