If you're into travel at all, you might know how seriously hot Iceland is right now. Not actual heat hot, but popularity hot! It's the place to be. So when New Jersey natives and adventure travelers Tim and Antonia wanted a kick-ass destination wedding, they chose an epic spot. Nowhere other than Iceland can you experience fire, ice, raging waterfalls, and endless cliff lines all in one day. Their Iceland destination wedding featured a three-course Icelandic meal and a welcome bag with a horn, a cheat sheet of Icelandic terms, a rain poncho, wedding logo tattoos, and a Viking rubber ducky. Oh, they know how to party in Iceland.
Upon arriving at the surprise location ceremony, the guests were greeted with the most spectacular mountains in Iceland. Tim and Antonia held a traditional ceremony where they held oath rings and drank out of a horn. After the ceremony, all of the guests found themselves in the midst of the area of where scenes from Game of Thrones and Star Wars were filmed! Finally, they stopped at their last place: Iceland’s most dangerous subglacial volcano that is overdue to explode by 20+ years. This was seriously an adventure-packed wedding. Let's check it out…

Stunning and super fun! My fiance and I are from 2 different countries and live in a third. Iceland was our “fuck it, this is too complicated” back-up plan. We’re just about to pay deposits on venues in London, and everything about this wedding is making me stop and reconsider the “let’s all meet in Iceland” plan instead!
Also – DRINKING HORN KOOZIES are the best thing ever. We can still have those in London, right?!
Oh man, those waterfall rainbow pictures! :O Awesome!
Wow! wow! Everything about this looks great though a little chilly for the bride(?). One question however, did everyone have to pay their own way or did you cover the travel costs? There’s no way that all my favorite people would be able to afford this outing and asking any of them to try would be cruel considering how much of a hardship it would be for them to go. Just curious.
Depending on where you and your favourite folks live, consider using Wow Air! I found their customer service sucked when I used them to fly to Iceland in June, but I also payed 435$ CAD round trip during peak tourist season. That’s including taxes and seat reservation.
And I mean, Iceland is by no means a cheap country, and 435$ is hella money no matter what, but it is a lot less than the 1000$+ flights I saw with other airlines.
(Also, hostels and AirB&B spots in Iceland are pretty cheap, really incredibly welcoming and clean, and often included free food that was super yummy!)
(I really love Iceland, haha).
Good information Morgan! Iceland looks incredible and possibly one of the cheaper choices for destination weddings – which is really surprising!
