When you get Jeff Goldbum to help you propose, you know your wedding has major stakes to live up to. Good thing it was phenomenal! Here's more from the bride on how her groom proposed and how it all came to be…
Kaya proposed on October 22, 2014 at the Rockwell Table & Stage before a Jeff Goldblum jazz concert. Kaya and I are huge Jurassic Park fans, and we love Jeff Goldblum, so Kaya found out that when Jeff isn't filming he plays jazz on Wednesday nights at the Rockwell. Here's the video of the proposal:
Our wedding was inspired a lot by Halloween and just strange and unusual things. Kaya originally wanted more of a forest theme, but in the end I persuaded him that a dark spooky theme would be awesome. Ever since I was young I knew I wanted a spooky wedding because I love macabre and strange things. A black wedding dress was a must for me, along with lots of Halloween candy and Ouija boards.
We don't like jewelry, so we both decided upon a sand ceremony instead of exchanging of rings. We're not the typical couple, so we definitely didn't want the typical wedding with pastel colors. We're also both atheists, so it was very important to have a friend as our officiant, and for there to be no talk about religion. We got the flowers from the flower market in LA and our friend Brad Bradley did the centerpieces, buttoners, and bouquets.
