When Kristin of Photomuse shared Katie and Tony's hauntingly gorgeous cemetery engagement photos with us, we got spine-tingling chills! Gather around, here's a scary (and sweet) story that'll haunt you for days.
Despite feeling exhausted and defeated by the tiresome world of online dating, Katie enthusiastically swiped right once she read that Tony was an embalmer who loved horror movies and collecting medical oddities.
As this was the start of the pandemic, meeting places for a date were limited but the two had the perfect idea for a first date spot: Grove Cemetery in New Haven.
Both Tony and Katie are taphophiles and share a love of cemetery exploring. They first met under the giant monument with the words “The Dead Shall Be Raised” … and they instantly felt a spark that could wake the dead.
“We wanted to take photos in the cemetery to honor our first date and all the adventures we have gone on exploring cemeteries all over New England.”
Since Katie referred to Tony as the “embalmer gentleman” to her friends when they first met, we knew we needed a nod to that with a cemetery engagement shoot.
When traveling to Maine to do a Stephen King tour, Tony and Katie went to the cemetery where Pet Semetary was filmed. In the exact spot shown in the movie, Tony proposed and Katie said yes with tears in her eyes.
